A new challenge site for me, yippee! I have a project to enter into the TOFF #46 -RED WHITE & BLUE only trouble is I’m not quite sure if it fits the challenge requirements. I have plenty of RED & BLUE but not so much WHITE. Well I’ll enter and find out I guess.
Have you guessed from the heading who might be staring in my project? Well if not, take a looky here –
Still don’t know (where have you been hiding)!! It be Cap’n Jack Sparrow with his beloved rum.
The digi stamp is from The Octopode Factory – first one for me. The sentiment goes so well with Jack don’t you think? It is from Graphicat.
It is a bottle hanger of course and I needed a bottle of RUM to hang it from. I didn’t have one so I had to embarrass myself and go into a “bottle shop” and ask the men if I could borrow the bottle, add my little hanger and take a photo. At first they were a bit stunned but then they were very helpful and got me the biggest bottle they had.
What a fun project this was. Hope you enjoy it too.
Bye for now,
I must admit that I’m a sucker for cuteness and these little note cards are just adorable. These are my practice run and they are fairly basic but I can see huge possibilities to dress them up. I’m thinking lace, texture plates and heaps of other embellishments and sentiments for all sorts of occasions.
Everybody saw awwwh –
They are approximately 9 cm high by 8 cm wide – not very big but perfect to put with a baby gift.
Sweet little baby girl note card.
With numbers or initials for all sorts of baby occasions.
What about FIRST Christmas?
I can see that I’ll have a lot of fun with these. Oops – almost forgot to tell you what brand. The onesie die is from Taylored Expression.
Bye for now,
I’ve been keeping an eye on the antics of these cute teddies for quite a while now and finally have decided I would like to invite some of them to live at my home. 😀 Today I’ll introduce you to my first digi image “Teddy Bea 116”. Actually she should be holding a wand but I wanted her to seem to be trying to catch the butterfly so my scissors just made an extra snip.
I’m on a roll with easel cards now, after not making any for so long, so again today it’s an Easel. I promise my next card or project won’t have anything to do with easels.
Here is my card for entry into The Teddy Bo Challenge #31 : : Button Up : : –
I have used 3 different Spellbinder dies for the card. The butterfly is my first attempt at using a Nellie Snellen “Double Fold” Die. The instructions are on the packet but butter-fingers me couldn’t follow them. I looked on the web and found a video but that was too quick. Eventually I just squished and it worked. Next time I’ll be fine. Love the effect of the 3 dies gives the butterfly.
Can you see that Bea’s skirt, beanie and bodice are paper pieced? The papers are from the beautiful paper pad from My Mind’s Eye “Be Happy”. I’m very pleased with the results. That meant that I only had to use my Copics to colour Bea’s arms, legs, face and wings and other small pieces of her clothing .
Embellishments are minimal – a bow and 3 buttons (remembering that buttons were the required challenge item).
Well I’m off to add my card into the challenge.
Bye for now,
I’m in love ….. with this Cupid Marci stamp. You must agree that she is cute. I have wanted to use her on a card for a while but couldn’t find a sentiment which I thought complimented her, then I found this great digi stamp from TLC Creations. The Anniversary sentiment stamp is from Verve.
Over at the La-La Land Crafts Blog the “Inspiration” was “All Wired Up” – use wire or metal in some way on your project. Click here to go to the La-La Land Blog http://lalalandcrafts.blogspot.com/ .
You can see more clearly on the next photo that I have added a silver filigree heart on top of the die cut from Whiff of Joy “Heart Banner”. I thought the silver embossing on the Kaisercraft paper “Bonjour” complimented the silver heart. I have used quite a few Spellbinder dies on this card, 4 different styles I think.
Here are the Copic colours I used –
Now I just have to wait for the right couple to have an anniversary to be able to use it.
Bye for now,
I am trying to keep up with my resolution of making a Christmas Card each week this year and even at this stage I’m struggling . This card will go into my stash but in the meantime I have found a couple of Christmas Card Challenge sites and will enter this one in a “Glittery” challenge at Christmas Stampin’ All Year Long.
An “easel card”
A photo of the card folded flat ready to go in an envelope.
The centre of the card.
Well I enjoyed making the card but it did take quite a lot of my time so I’m happy to see it finished.
Card recipe –
- Stamp – Magnolia “Jolly Elf Tilda”
- Coloured with Copics
- Card – Bazzill
- Paper – Teresa Collins “Spring Fling” – as the name suggests it’s not a Christmas paper but I think it suits really well.
- Spellbinder Dies
- Tim Holtz – Dies
- Kaisercraft Sparklets
- Sentiment – Whimsy Stamp
- Flower soft and glitter.
Hope you enjoyed today’s card.
Bye for now,
It is an overcast and at times drizzly day today but despite this when we were invited to visit the St Erth Garden we agreed. As it turns out it was a wonderful day to visit the garden. I’ll show you how beautiful it was. (If you don’t want to look at numerous garden photos stop now).
I have lots of other pictures from our visit today but I won’t bore you any further. My little instamatic camera has done a good job even with its scratched lens.
Here is a link to the garden http://www.diggers.com.au/gardens-and-cafes/gardens/st-erth.aspx .
They have a great range of heritage veggie plants and seeds as well as a good range of different fruit trees and other plants. Well worth the trip, I am sure you will enjoy your day.
The Diggers Club also have another garden at Dromana “Heronswood”. That is a lot further for us to go but we will make it one day.
Hope you are enjoying your weekend,
I am soooo late finishing my ATC’s for April – yes April. The theme sounded easy “Weddings” but I procrastinated because I wanted to use things which I already had but not ones that I have OVER used before for cards. I really couldn’t get enthused until I remembered this cute little stamp from Stampavie by Rachelle Anne Miller “Hoo Hoo There”.
Here is a sneak peek –
ATC recipe
- Stamp – Stampavie by Rachelle Anne Miller “Hoo Hoo There”
- Coloured with Copics
- Paper – Prima “Yuki for Ruby Violet”
- Tulle – Upstairs Downstairs Trim “Ruby Rock-It”
- Silver Strung Beads – unknown
- Glitter – Dazzling Diamonds (SU)
- Hearts – from the centre of Whiff of Joy Border Die “Fancy Hearts”
Now I must rush them down to the Imagination Factory – I’m late … I’m late for a very important date.
Bye for now,
Just when you thought I had finished showing you different gift card holders here is another. It is my ds’s birthday today and this is his card and gift card holder.
Even though he doesn’t live in Victoria now (the state where AFL rules) he still follows Essendon (go Bombers) when he can. Hence the red and black beanie.
As you can see, the top of the beanie swivels up to reveal the gift card.
Here is the back showing the eyelet which allows the swivelling action.
You will notice on my sidebar a short list of blogs which I like to peep at regularly (actually I have lots, LOTS, more and I must update the list soon). One of the blogs is Carolina’s Creative Pad and this is where I found the original beanie. She has the directions on there but here is my short metric version.
Materials:
- 1 x 12 cm circle
- 1 x 5 cm x 13 cm strip of red card
- 1 x 2 cm x 13 cm strip of black card
- Eyelet
- Circle Cutter
- Scallop Decorative Scissors
- Crop-a-Dile
- Double-Sided Tape
- your choice of embellishments
Step 1: Cut out a circle measuring 12 cm diameter approx. I used the smallest of the Spellbinders Grand Nestabilities Circles, but of course you can make your circle with anything you have on hand.
Step 2: Because my beanie didn’t need anything more than red and black Bazzill card my next step was to cut the circle in half.
Step 3: Like Carolina I scalloped one edge of the red strip using decorative scissors.
Step 4: To the back semi-circle I added a strip of strong ds tape along the flat edge and adhered it to the bottom of the red strip of card stock, just above the scalloped edge.
Step 5: Following Carolina’s instructions I then inserted the other semi-circle in-between the red strip and semi-circle. I slipped the Crop-a-Dile in the middle. Punch hole, add an eyelet and set. (I used a Crop-a-dile but you could just as easily use a hole punch and eyelet setter.)
Step 6: Then I adhered the black strip of card.
Step 7: Finally I added an Essendon Logo and a few tiny strips of red and black card at the top for a pom-pom.
I have just had a phone call from ds thanking me for the gift and giving me some lovely feedback about the card (“best card you have ever made”. 😆 I wonder if it had been in different colours would I have received such a good review?
You might have noticed that my photos have a few blurry spots of them. Well I noticed them and then realised that the lens of the camera has several scratches – ugh – how did that happen? I will have to take it to a camera shop to see if there is anything I can do about it. I’ve a terrible feeling that it is not going to be cheap to fix.
Bye for now,
I’m back with another challenge card. Today the challenge is from Copic Oz and the theme is “Flowers”.
I don’t have many flower stamps (must remedy that :)), but I do have a couple of Lockhart Stamps so I decided to use this “Tulips” 2025. It is a while since I have made an easel card so I had some fun with mixing shapes to make an interesting shape combination. Do you like it?
and here is a close-up of the image –
Here are the Copics which I used. It looks a lot but honestly I did use them all. The photo probably doesn’t quite show the tones in the flowers as well as it might.
The dp is from the Cosmo Cricket paper pad “Cubierta Miniatura” I have used dies from Spellbinders and the leaf flourish is from Cheery Lyn Designs. The sentiment is from MFT.
Well that is all for today. I’m off to watch “Homes under the Hammer”.
Bye for now,
I love patterned paper ♥♥ (don’t we all?) so the challenge I’m entering today is the challenge of all challenges. Over at the Penny Black Saturday Challenge site this week the theme is “No Patterned Paper”. Luckily the Design Team have some great ideas to inspire entrants. Here is my attempt –
The stamp is “Mimi Dear” by Penny Black (of course). I coloured her with Copics and added some white Flower Soft and glitter. I then embossed the white card with the Sizzix embossing folder “Stars & Swirls” and find that I really love the effect. The stars and flourish were cut with dies from Spellbinders. Finally the banner was cut with a die from Taylored Expressions and the sentiment “Merry Christmas” is from Hero Arts.
Well that was a great adventure and it took quite a while to get something that I was happy with, but after all that’s what it’s all about, trying new things and having fun.
From now until December I am hoping that I will be disciplined enough to make at least 1 or 2 Christmas cards per week so I don’t have to panic in the final couple of weeks (as usually happens). Wish me luck with this resolution. 😆
Bye for now,
Help, I’ve done it again, gone over board, this time with flowers. Looking at it now I’m sure it still needs just 1 more flower. My enthusiasm gets the better of me. :D:
The card is for the DP2 Challenge #131 – Flowers. It is a get well card and surely the bright cheery colours and floral frenzy will brighten up someone’s day.
A close-up of Mo’s digital image of “After the Fall”.
Card Recipe –
- Stamp Image – Mo’s Digital Pencil “After the Fall”
- Coloured with Copics
- Sentiment – Computer Generated
- Dp – NONE – what?
- Card – Hero Arts
- Flowersssss – Wild Orchid
- Grass die – Whiff of Joy
- Flourish & Leaves Die – Cheery Lyn Designs
I really enjoyed colouring this fun image.
Bye for now,
Sometimes gift cards come in their own company’s holder (usually not very pretty – although this was quite a clever one). Why not just dress up what they have given you. The best way to describe what I mean is to just show you my version.
Here is the original holder –
and here is my “dressed up” version –
This gift card holder/card is for a friend who LOVES to fish so I think he should like it. The “Two Fish” image is from A Day For Daisies HERE.
Bye for now,
A very talented stamper and card designer Pam at Expressions with Heart alerted her readers to a new challenge site for Pixie and Fairy images! Sweet Stamping Pixies Challenge blog. Thanks Pam. I missed the first challenge but I’m all ready to go for the second. SSP Challenge #2 – use Kraft.
The cute little fairy is from Penny Black’s Transparent Set “Mimi in Paris”. I’m sorry that you can’t see that her wings are all glittery. I tried to show you in this close-up but it still really doesn’t show up very well. You’ll just have to believe me.
I have had the kraft journaling tags for a long time so I’m not sure but they might be by Maya Road?!? The paper is from the Dots & Stripes pad by Echo Park. The butterfly punch is from Martha Stewart.
Bye for now,
Welcome back. Here is another style of Gift Card Holder. I have made a pretty wallet for a female but you will just have to imagine it in black or brown tones and embossed for a man. This time I slipped a $50 note in but a gift card fits in perfectly.
Here are the measurements if you would like to try to make one –
- 1 piece of card or thick dp cut to 10.5 x 30.5 cm. (I used My Mind’s Eye “Bloom & Grow” which is lovely thick paper and is double-sided).
- Score this piece at 7.5, 13.5, 19.5 and 28 cm.
- Fold the 13.5 cm score line into a mountain fold, the rest will fall into place for you then.
- Stick the bottom edge of the inside of the mountain fold together. (Have a look at the 2nd photo above to give you some help with how this should look).
- Now using a craft knife and steel ruler, carefully cut a notch out of the top of the mountain fold. Leave 1 cm at each end and cut down 1 cm.
- Make a tab (look at the 3rd photo) and attach to top flap (I covered mine with a flower)
- Make a slit in the front at the appropriate level for the tab to slide into. This holds it closed. You could use magnets or valcro if you prefer.
- Decorate to your hearts desire.
If you do make a wallet I would love to see it.
Have fun and bye for now,

One of my blogging friends told me that she is soon to be a Grandma again. I would like to send her a card but because we just communicate via our blogs I thought I would post the card here.
She has 2 gds and soon a gs – CONGRATS!
I hope you like it.
I’m also going to add it to a challenge – Penny Black & More “Oh So Cute”.
The stamp is one from the Penny Black Transparent Set “Bubbly”. The dp is from the paper pad by Inque Boutique “Out of this World”.
Bye for now,
