Hello all, I’ve started to get some projects organized for the next crafty get-together. I asked for suggestions from the crafters at the last get-together, asking what sort of projects they would like at the next day. Ideas for small gifts was one of the suggestions. So … without further delay AND WITH photos this time here is the first project –
First off the ranks is a set for a new baby (girl in this instance). The photo makes the card and image look mauve but they are pale pink in real life.
Here is the circle card so you can have a closer look.
The image is from Mo Manning – cute hey. I don’t know if we will have time to colour on the day so we might have to just make the card and add an image at home.
We will also make a little shoe. I’ve added a little pair of furry new-born socks as the gift but you could add chocolate for the mother or other small items.
*** If you are interested in coming along (not sure when as yet) leave a comment or send me an email please. *** Remember I live near Ballarat, Victoria, Australia so that will limit your availability I’m sure 🙂
I will be back in a few days with another project for the crafty get-together. Another suggestion for possible projects was tags, so I’m more than happy to oblige.
Bye for now,
I must explain to you why I have made tags today. While we were at the Quilt & Craft Show my friend Rhonda was searching for Jar stamps & dies. We didn’t find any on the day but I think she has found what she wants now. I don’t want to steal her thunder but I was totally inspired by her Pinterest board of tags and my inspiration came from there. She doesn’t have a blog so I don’t think she will mind and I am more than happy to show you some of her lovely work if she agrees. The original tag I was inspired by is HERE.
You probably won’t be surprised that I already had a Jar stamp in my stash 😆 The stamp set is from Unity Stamps.
I cut the stamp out by hand. It is a perfect size for a tag. The sentiments come with the set.
I die cut some patterned paper and attached it to the top of the jar then trimmed it to the jar shape. Then I added some twine (just as you would with a real jar).
I lightly coloured the jar and sentiment to match the patterned paper and flowers. I think they would look so pretty added to some homemade goodies.
Bye for now,
The theme this week at Dilly Beans Designers is “TAGS”. Tags have been on my mind because a friend has asked that tags be on the agenda at the next crafty get-together. So this challenge caught my attention. Here is my large tag for the challenge –
The image from Dilly Beans is “Girl & Butterflies”. Terribly difficult to photograph because I had added so much glitter and bits (trying out some new products from Stampendous – encrusted jewels) but I think you’ll get the idea.
I’ve tried to show you how pretty the encrusted jewels looks but with my little camera and lack of skills I couldn’t get a good photo.
By for now,
A friend and I went to the Quilt & Craft Show at the Melbourne Exhibition Centre last week. We enjoyed ourselves (of course) but it was a little bit disappointing because the number of paper crafting and stamping stalls was down on previous years. Mind you we still found plenty of things to tempt us. 😀
The first thing I found which interested me was paper-folding a Christmas ball decoration. Here is my attempt –
There are eight “petals” and a total of 12 flowers and that means a LOT of folding. The folds are quite easy and it was a fun way to keep busy while watching TV.
I added some stamen, which I had in my stash, to the centres of the flowers and some gems to the tips of the petals.
The result was pretty. I was surprised at the weight of the finished product and made sure that the ribbon was attached very securely.
I have several other projects from the exhibition which I will show you over the coming days/weeks.
Edited to add – I have found the “real” name for these balls, it is Kusudama (Flower Ball). Here is a tutorial on YouTube which you might find helpful.
Bye for now,
Welcome to a new week. Hope everyone had a great weekend.
I’m on a bit of a roll with challenges at the moment and today is no different. Today’s challenge over at a Day for Daisies is to use “Die cuts”.
The die cuts I’ve used are Spellbinders “Romantic Rectangles” and “Labels 28”. The butterfly die cut is from Nellie Snellen “Double Fold Dies”.
The beautiful digital stamp is from a Day for Daisies “Pixie Gift”.
The sentiment is from The Greeting Farm.
I coloured with Copics and added plenty of glitter.
Bye for now,
It is very cold here today, in fact it snowed for a couple of hours this morning. That’s always exciting for us. To make up for the cold weather I have made a bright and shiny card for the Some Odd Girl July Sketch Challenge. This is the sketch –
I’ve actually rotated it like this
Here is my card –
The absolutely gorgeous stamp is (of course) from Some Odd Girl “Rani”. I’ve coloured her with Copics and added lots of glitter to give it the “Bollywood” feel.
The sentiment is from TLC Creations. I thought it fitted the image perfectly.
Just a short post today because I’m getting tired from watching the cricket late at night. Yes I’m still watching even though it is very embarrassing for Australians 😉
Bye for now,
Good morning all. I’m back with a card for a challenge over at Flourishes “Black & White Birthday”.
The stamp is “Magnolias” from Flourishes. I’ve coloured it with several “C” greys from Copics then added a little glitter.
The dies I’ve used for this card are Spellbinders “Lacey Squares”, Fancy That “Hexagon Border”, and Die-namics from MFT “Bows”. Also used, though I’m not sure that it shows up in the photo, is a Hearts embossing folder from Cuttlebug.
I hope you enjoy your day. Today I will be filling in time in the craft room (not too difficult) while I wait for the dishwasher service man to arrive – sometime between 9 and noon. At least that is better than some of the big companies who will only give you a day not a time (Powercor is an example of that).
Bye for now,
Over at Flourishes they have a challenge “Seeing Clearly”. The challenge this week is to use Acetate anywhere in your project or card.
Here is my take –
I have a set of acetate cards in my stash, so I pulled one of them out to use as my easel card base. I only had to cut a strip off the side and add another crease, so that was very convenient.
I used the very cute bunny stamp from the Flourishes “Spring is Sprung” set. The sentiment is also from this set.
I coloured the stamp with Copics. And cut the shapes with Spellbinder “Label Eight” dies.
It was quite difficult to photograph the acetate but I think you can get the idea.
I’m very pleased with the result, it looks kinda cute in real life.
Bye for now,
I’m back today with a card for the Magnolia Down Under Challenge “Shabby”.
The Magnolia stamp is “Sweetie Tilda” and I’ve coloured her with Copics.
The sentiment is from Hero Arts.
Just a very quick post tonight because I want to go and watch the cricket on TV (The Ashes starts tonight). I hope the Australians can improve on their recent poor form (well I think there is only up from where they are now). Fingers crossed anyway.
Bye for now,
Hello all. I’m excited to tell you that I’m entering the most interesting challenge that I’ve attempted. The challenge is over at Dilly Beans Designers “Frida Kahlo”. If you are an artist or art enthusiast you will know that name but for me it was all a discovery. I loved it, such a different challenge to the norm.
For a biography about Frida Kahlo, click here. Frida Kahlo was a Mexican painter best known for her self-portraits, you can see some of her art on Google Images here.
Here is my attempt –
I saw that many of her paintings had leaves as the background, hence the leaf flourishes. In particular I was drawn to her painting “Roots”, which by the way, I see was sold at Sotheby’s for a measly $5.6 million. 😯
Her bold colours also drew my eye. I coloured the beautiful image from Dilly Beans “Anna Framed” with Copics.
I stamped a quote in the top left corner – the stamp is from Verve.
I had fun and learnt a great deal – WIN WIN for me.
Bye for now,
I love the look of vintage and distressed cards but I’m not very imaginative when it comes to making them. 😦 The only way to improve is practice I guess, so when I saw this challenge over at “A Day for Daisies“ I thought I should attempt it. Here is my Stress It challenge card –
The beautiful digital stamp is from A Day for Daisies “Bewildered”. The sentiment is from Verve. I thought it went perfectly with this dreamy girl.
I coloured her with Copics – almost all of my very lightest colours. It doesn’t look like there is much colour but I’ve used about 8 “E” Copics. Glittered her eyelids and I love that effect.
Hope you enjoyed this DREAMY image as much as I enjoyed making her into a card (I think you’ll see more of these digi stamps in the future – I have a few sitting just waiting to be used.)
Bye for now,
Six papercraft fans and I got together last Saturday to make some cards and off-the-page projects. I think we all enjoyed ourselves. 😛 Card making can be such fun and relaxing. Perhaps we did too much chatting 😕 or perhaps we just didn’t have time to start on the final project so everyone took their fourth kit home to make.
Today I received an email from one friend with a copy of an easel card made with the kit. I love it.
I have to admit that I think the gerberas are prettier than the original card I made with roses. This card was all about embossing an image with white embossing powder and then colouring it with Distress Ink pads. The other element about this card was making a die-cut easel card. Isn’t that die gorgeous. Julie tells me that it is QuickKutz Nesting Doily Circles.
Has anyone else tried their kit? If you have would love to see it.
Bye for now,
When I went to visit my mum today she had some visitors. I’ll show you the 8 week old first – such a cutie.

Beautiful Border Collie pups. Here is my mum giggling as the 3 week old snuggled into her. It’s not a very flattering photo of mum because the puppy had tugged at her jumper a bit, but I still love the photo because she was so happy.
I asked her if she liked dogs and she said “they’re ok”. Then I asked is she a dog or cat person and she said “definitely cat”. Well that was news to me :).
They only stayed a while which was a shame but they had others to visit. Before they arrived she had been snoozing in her chair but the visitors brightened her up immensely. It just showed me how pets can play a big part in our lives.
Bye for now,
Hello friends. Here is the final sneak peek for our “crafty day”. I’ve given you a bit more of a clue, well a little more anyway, than usual 😉
Just a reminder for those who have indicated that they are coming to the craft afternoon – it is this Saturday afternoon (29th June). I’ll email you with a reminder as well.
Bye for now,
