cards and other happy thoughts

washing day

Edited to add – I have updated the feature card for this week (a bit late I’m sorry).

I have been asked to make a card for baby boy.  While making a blue card I thought I would make a couple of others colours which could go into my stash.  Here are today’s cards –

I have had those cute little wire coat hangers for years and if my memory is correct they’re from “Woodware”.  I might show you some more of them over the next few days.

Bye for now,

Second group of ATC’s and congrats.

Finally – whew – I’m connected to the internet.  Have had trouble all day and still not really resolved.

I’ll make this short and sweet just in case I lose connection again.

The theme for this group of ATC’s for June is “Foreign”.  Here is my take –

I stamped (one of my first stamps) the film strip on acetate with Stazon and then attached to the card.  Just made it in time again this month.

NOW FOR SOME EXCITING NEWS —–  I recommend that you hop over to have a look at Tracey’s blog “My Creative Space”  she has some great news.  I know she would love some comments so go ahead and congratulate her.  CONGRATS TRACEY.

That is all for today,

Flowers, flutters, fairies, fancy fold …

Flowers, Flutters, Fairies, Fancy Fold…  wow that was a mouthful.  That is the theme for Challenge # 88 at Mom’s digital challenge blogspot.  I was able to include – flowers, fairies and a fancy fold in my card for the challenge (only missed the flutters).  I love this cute digi image from Mo and you will have seen me use it before … I think.  Well I have used it before but can’t remember whether I have put it on this blog.  Because it is a beautiful little tea-cup I often include a tea bag with the card and that is what I have done again today.

Here is today’s card from different views –

Card Recipe –

  • Digital image – Mo’s Digital Pencil (Teacup Fairy)
  • Coloured with Copics
  • Sentiment – PTI
  • Card – Bazzill
  • Paper – My Mind’s Eye (Mabel)
  • Dies – Spellbinders
  • Flowers – Wild Orchid
  • Ribbon – PTI

I have adapted the “Stand Up” card template from  this terrific tutorial into cm.  I’m afraid it’s NOT TO SCALE – just drawn by hand.

That’s all for today,

Bye,

Air Mail

Here is a sneak peek of my first group of ATC’s for June.  The theme is postage.  I just love this stamp by Whiff of Joy.

That’s all for today – just a very quick post.

Bye for now,

Ooo la la

I believe that yesterday (21 June) was the shortest day of the year here in Australia.  Woo Hoo.  I always feel happier when the shortest day has passed because then we are on our way back to longer, lighter, brighter days, which is good.  Hate these gloomy grey days.

Today I’m attempting a new card challenge.  It is a Penny Black “Triangles” challenge – HERE.  I’ve been watching the blog for a while now and when I saw “Triangles” as the challenge I thought this is one I could try.  Remember the “Rocket Man” card from a few days ago – well that is all made from triangles so that is what I used again – a “Tee Pee” card.  I have a sweet Penny Black T set with the Eiffel Tower image (well that is nearly a triangle) so thought – perfect.

Here is today’s card:

I used a little glitter on her collar and “flower soft” on her coffee (not sure that you can see it in the photo).

Card Recipe:

  • Stamps – Penny Black (Mimi in Paris)
  • Coloured with Copics
  • Card – Bazzill
  • Paper – Kaisercraft (After Five)
  • Paper Lace
  • Pearls – Kaisercraft
  • Flower soft, glitter, gold glitter pen

Now all I have to do is try to work out how to link the card to the site – wish me luck.

I have nearly finished 1 set of ATC’s so hopefully tomorrow there might be a sneak peek.

Bye for now,

Hop, skip and a jump for joy

The beginning of another new week.  Phew … they are flying by.

Today I am entering the High Hopes Stamps: Challenge 111: Stars & Stripes.   I like the sentiment – “Jumping for Joy” because it is so versatile.  It could be for a Birthday, Graduation, Baby, anything really.    Isn’t it perfect with the  fun “Leapin’ Larry” image.

Without further ado here is today’s card:

Card Recipe:

  • Stamp – High Hopes (Leapin’ Larry)
  • Coloured with Copics
  • Sentiment – Simon Says Stamp
  • Card – Bazzill
  • Paper – BoBunny (Blast Off)
  • Die – Spellbinder
  • Star & round brads
  • Dimensional Magic (on froggies eyes)

I have started on 1 set of ATC’s for June.  The theme is “Postage”.  Because I am working on them at the moment I’ll be missing tomorrow, but I’ll be back the day after.

Bye for now,

New FEATURE CARD

I have posted the new feature card for this week.  Check it out.

All that Scraps – Wednesday Challenge – Photo Inspiration

Today’s card is for All That Scraps – Wednesday Challenge – Photo Inspiration.  This is the photo –

Isn’t it just so pretty.  I was inspired by the colours, flowers, polka dots and shapes of the bowls and cups.  😀 well just everything really.  As well as this photo I had in my mind a gorgeous card by Lesa Rapp here.  Might have to buy that sentiment set – love it.  I already had the Sweet November Lillianne stamp so off I went.

Here is my take –

Bye for now,

Rocket man …..

Hello everyone (well I hope there will be a few people popping in to read the blog),

Today’s card was inspired by one of my “crafty” friends who showed me how to make a teepee card.  Well I constructed it a little differently but the result is similar.  I hope you like it.  Here is a photo from the front:

and here are a couple from the sides –

  1. I cut 3 pieces of red card stock (10 x 10 mm)
  2. then folded them in half diagonally  (that word always makes me think of Harry Potter’s Diagon Alley)
  3. Cut 2 sheets of dp (9.5 x 9.5)
  4. then cut them in half Diagon Alley (he he he)
  5. Adhere carefully to one side of each red card piece (make sure that they are on the correct side by holding the card together to make a pyramid
  6. Adhere two sides of the pyramid, leaving one open
  7. Fold the third side over and mark where the tip of the final flap is and cut a slit in the red card so the point when placed in the cut will hold the two pieces together.
  8. Then I decorated the card to make it look like a rocket.  (you don’t have to do that of course you can decorated however you like).

I had decided months ago that when I finally got around to making the teepee card that I wanted to make it into a rocket.  I just had to be patient and find some digital stamps which would suit – this week I found what I think are the perfect images for the little project (and they were very cheap :D)

If anyone wants a better set of instructions I will make another card and take photos as I go.  So just let me know.

Here is another photo of the card before it is folded:

You can just see the slit in the red card on the left above.

And here is how the card folds to put it in an envelope

Hope you enjoyed this card and that you don’t have that silly “Rocket Man” song by Elton John stuck in your head.

Bye for now,

Strawberries & Cream…

Well I think I have picked the loveliest challenges over the last couple of Days.  “Pearls & Lace” yesterday  and then today “Strawberries & Cream” – yummy.  I enjoy all the challenges but some just come together well and make me smile.  Today’s is one of the smiley days.

While we were on holidays in the Northern Territory a friend who lives nearby was good enough to look after our dog Lizzie.  We had a nice bottle of wine to say thank you to him and I had seen this tutorial for a wine bottle tag, so I took inspiration from it and came up with my own version.

I am entering this little project into the Whiff of Joy Challenge: Challenge #106 – Strawberries & Cream.

Here is the tag:

And here is a close up of the tag (without button sorry – because dh has just taken the wine with tag to deliver to his friend).

Sorry about the light in the photos – dh was anxious to deliver the wine so I had to quickly take a couple of photos and make the best I could of them.

Card Recipe:

  • Stamp – Whiff of Joy (Beep Beep I Love You)
  • Coloured with Copics
  • Sentiment – Hero Arts
  • Card – Bazzill
  • Paper – DCWV (Mariposa Matstack)
  • Dies – Spellbinders
  • Button & Twine – PTI

I have another cold (I seem to get one after another at the moment – must be my age 😥 ) So I might have a day off tomorrow.  I will be back to see you soon,

Pearls and Lace…

This is my second post today so scroll down to see the first one.

Who could resist a challenge which involves “Pearls & Lace”?  Well certainly NOT me.  Catch the Bug Challenge for this week is to include some pearls and lace into a project.   Woo Hoo – sounds like fun.  I looked through my Bugaboo digi images and thought the “cutcake” would fit the bill.  I added Dimensional Magic to the cake and then attached little pearls over the circles.  I also added a string of pearls on top of the lace.  So that has definitely covered the requirements of the challenge.  Just to make sure I punched a lacy edge along the bottom of the card base.  Then OF COURSE I had to add some glitter and flowers :D.

Here is today’s card:

Card Recipe:

  • Digi Image – Bugaboo Stamps (CutCake)
  • Coloured with Copics
  • Sentiment – PTI
  • Card – Bazzill
  • Embossing Folder – Quickutz
  • Punch – EK
  • Pearls – Kaisercraft
  • String of pearls, flowers, lace and glitter

Bye for now,

Feature Card

I have finally arranged my “Feature Card” page.  My ds helped me to set it up some months ago but I hadn’t finished it off until this weekend.  If you would like to have a look and give me some constructive criticism I would be pleased.  (The feature card page is the third tab at the top of this post just below the header).

I have another card almost ready to go for a challenge so check back in a couple of hours and I will have it posted.

Aqua, yellow and lime

Good morning.  I’m finally back into challenge mode and here is the first one.

Aqua, yellow and lime – I don’t think I would have thought about putting these 3 colours  on a card.  But you know what, I think they look good (aka nice and bright and happy).  These colours are the challenge for All That Scraps ~ Weekly Wednesday Challenge

Today’s card is a “Centre Step Fold” as shown by Pam here and here.  I used Francis’ template here because it was in cm.  Thank you to both women for such wonderful inspiration.

Here is today’s card –

and here is a shot from the side so you can see the folds a little better –

Card Recipe:

  • Stamp – CC Designs (Sweetheart Birgitta)
  • Coloured with Copics
  • Sentiment – Hero Arts
  • Card – Bazzill
  • Paper – Echo Park (Summer Days)
  • Dies – Spellbinders (Ovals and scallops),  MFT (Banner Day), Whiff of Joy (Grass)
  • Butterfly and flower punches
  • Pearls – Kaisercraft

Looking at the list and then looking back at the card I think I’ve gone overboard with dies and punches.  Nevermind I had fun trying to make a little scene for Birgitta.

Queen’s Birthday Holiday tomorrow for us in Australia –  Woo Hoo holidays “gotta luv ’em”.

See you soon,

Mary, Mary

How does your garden grow?  Does anyone have anything colourful in their garden at this time of the year?  Love to know what it is?  Not much colour in our garden at the moment so I’m happy to show you this colourful card.

This is a second card using the Hero Arts clear set I also used yesterday.   I have raised the central panel on foam but it doesn’t show very well.  Even when I took a photo from the side it is still hard to show you. You will just have to beleive me :).   The black border gives it a really different feel and I love it.

Card Recipe:

  • Stamps – Hero Arts (Sending Smiles)
  • Coloured with Copics
  • Card – Bazzill
  • Paper – Sassafras (had it in my stash for age
  • Dies – Spellbinders
  • Pearls – Kaisercraft
  • Various flowers, ribbon and glitter

Bye for now,

Gardening never looked such fun

I’m back with a cute set of stamps which can be found at The Imagination Factory.   I think this card is fun and I know just the person I am going to give it to (but not her birthday yet – just have to wait).  She is a keen gardener and I think this will make her smile.  If you would like a closer look at the card I will be taking it into The Imagination Factory in a day or so for display.  I have another card in mind for this stamp set so check back in a couple of days.

Here is today’s card –

Card Recipe:

  • All Stamps – Hero Arts (Sending Smiles)
  • Coloured with Copics
  • Card – PTI
  • Paper – Websters Pages
  • Butterfly Punch – Martha Stewart
  • Fence Punch – Martha Stewart
