cards and other happy thoughts

Fanciful Critters

Welcome back.  This week Penny Black have another great challenge – Fanciful Critters.  Just sounds fun doesn’t it.  My card has lots of layers and “fussy cutting” (saw this term on a blog somewhere and thought how true it was. So from  now on I’m calling it that too).

Here is today’s card –

The original stamped image only has the 1 kitten holding onto the balloons, but I wanted to add another kitty hanging onto his tail trying to keep him on the ground. That’s a bit “fanciful” isn’t it?  I wanted to put a sentiment on it “thanks for keeping me grounded” but had to settle for “thanks a bunch”.

Card Recipe –

  • Stamp – Penny Black (Bubbles)
  • Coloured with copics
  • Sentiment – Penny Black (Betsy Bluebell
  • Paper – Authentique (Blissful)
  • Card – Bazzill
  • Dies – Spellbinders
  • Pearls – Kaisercraft
  • Butterfly punch – unknown
  • Corner rounder

I’m off now to place my entry in the Penny Black Gallery.

Bye for now,

Anyone for Tennis?

I used to play tennis and really enjoyed it but haven’t played for a very very long time (not going to mention how many years – let’s just say there were only white dresses, no colours, in those days ).  You might be asking why I am mentioning this – well the challenge over at Copic Oz is to create a “Sporty theme”.  I love this theme.

Here is my entry –

I wanted to try to create the effect of a net – don’t know if it worked exactly but I tried.

Here is a closer view to show which parts have been raised with foam tape.

Card recipe –

  • Stamp image – La La Lands (Tennis Marci)
  • Coloured with Copics of course
  • Sentiment – Computer generated
  • Card – PTI
  • Paper – Echo Park (Summer Days)
  • Embossing Folder – Swiss Dots
  • Dies – Spellbinders (Circles), MFT (Grass)
  • Butterfly punch – unknown

Hope you enjoyed today’s card.

Just thinking back to my sporty days and how things have changed.  In summer I would play tennis and winter it was badminton (don’t know if I would be able to find a badminton stamp).  We had a great time.  At school it was swimming and softball in the summer (do they still play that?) and in winter – netball (we used to call it basketball).  What is my sport now?  mmmmmm – running – running to the letterbox to see any new “crafty things” have arrived. :;:

Bye for now,

Har Repotter

Today I am “creating a scene”.  Not in the nasty, loud and angry sense but for a card challenge.  Catch the Bug Challenge this week is to “create a scene” on your card using more than one image.  I have had the set of Har Repotter characters hiding away in a file and thought this was the perfect chance to let them out and have a bit of fun. Gorgeous images.

Here is today’s card –

As you can see I have made an easel card.  You should also be able to see from this angle that I have raised the 2 little figures with foam tape.  Here is a close up of the card from the front –

I thought this scene would make a great “teacher and student” card.  Har looks like he is trying to produce an orb like his teacher but all he can do is make 2 small sparks.

Card recipe –

  • Digi images – Bugaboo Stamps (Har Repotter)
  • Coloured with Copics
  • Sentiment – (I typed on the computer)
  • Paper – My Mind’s Eye (12 days of Christmas) just bought this weekend – love it
  • Card – PTI
  • Dies – Spellbinders circles  & MFT clouds, grass
  • Felt from stash
  • Rhinestones – Kaisercraft
  • Star pins from stash

The Harry Potter films very often have dark threatening skies and backgrounds but I didn’t want to make a completely black card.  So on top of the grey base card I added some fun with the bright papers and then added grey clouds just to give a bit of that dark magic from “he who must not be named” effect .

One of my ddil’s loves the whole Harry Potter phenomenon so I hope she enjoys my attempt today.

Off  to add my card to the Challenge page…..

Bye for now,

Bearing Flowers

Hello everyone.  Straight on to today’s card –

Such a cute image from “The Cat’s Pajamas”.  I coloured him with Copics and then stamped the flower again, coloured it, cut it and raised it up on foam tape.  There are a few different layers here so the foam dots and tape got a fair workout.  Lots of dies used too and they are from The Cat’s Pajamas and Spellbinders  (That reminds me to buy a new plate for the cuttlebug – it is so marked and warped now that it is leaving a terrible mess on the back of the paper.  I have gone through quite a few of these over the years).  The pretty papers are from Echo Park 6 x 6 Paper Pad “Summer Days”.

I have a confession to make .  I bought some new paper over the weekend after I promised myself not to buy any more ’til I used up a lot in my stash.  But I’m sure you understand there are some papers that you just have to have because you NEED them. 😆

Well now that I have some new papers I had better start making lots of cards to use it.

See you soon,

Getting ready

Over the next 3 months I am going to be quite busy with markets so I’m working on little things to add for Christmas.  Here’s an example of a few of the things I have been working on this week.

Can you help me with some ideas for little (paper) things that you would suggest or like to see on Christmas stalls.  I would love some new ideas.  It might seem early to be planning for Christmas but it’s not – I know I will still be panicking at the last moment but I do try to be prepared (and I haven’t even been a girl guide) 😆  I really need your help – so don’t be afraid to comment.  THANKS.

Hope to hear from you,

EMO Kid

Welcome back.  I’m still on the boy/male theme again today.  I had a comment on yesterday’s post saying that if I coloured the image black it would be good for emo kids.  Well —- who knew what emo kids were?  Certainly not me.  So off I went and googled.  Once I realised what that was all about I came up with this card.

Here is today’s card –

Didn’t want too much detail on it of course just black but thought I should add just one other colour.  Perhaps I have put too much sheen on his hair – not sure if they usually have clean, shiny hair.  😆

The stamp is from The Greeting Farm and his name is actually “JACK“.  The papers were scraps so can’t tell you the names.  The HB 2U letters are from American Crafts “Thickers – Platforms”.  Didn’t want to put too much emotion into the sentiment :D:.

What do you think?  Is he an emo?

Bye for now,

Hoodie

I’m trying to make a few more “boy/male” cards.  One of my crafting buddies is always pleased when I make a boy card so I hope she will be happy with this one.  I saw this cute little stamp on Tracey’s blog and loved him straight away.  The stamp is from The Greeting Farm and his name is “Logan”.

Here is today’s card –

The large sentiment is from The Greeting Farm “Creeper Crew Collection” and the small sentiment is a Lizzie Anne Stamp. The paper is from the Cosmo Cricket Mini Deck “Wanted”.  Card is Bazzill and buttons from PTI.  Small clip is SU.

Bye for now,

Larakins

I can’t put my finger on what it is about this adorable little image from the Emerald Faerie Garden “The Larakins – Ashton & Boo” but I just LOVE it.  I smile each time I look at it.  It depicts pure joy to me.  Who else feels like that about the image?  It was very fidley to cut out but it was the effect that I wanted so just had to spend a bit of time and carefully trim.  I hadn’t tried this die shape from Spellbinders for an easel card before but it works I think.  Still using up papers that I have in my stash 😀 – this one is from Scenic Route but I can’t tell you the name of the paper because I cut off the name when I used it last time – silly me.

The Emerald Faerie Garden Challenge at the moment is “Challenge #8 – Buttons” and I am going to enter today’s card as soon as I finish this post.

Here is the card –

The sentiment is from Whiff of Joy and the card and buttons are from PTI.

Have some fun today,

PS – I thought “Larakin” was an Australian word so I googled and then found that the designer of the stamp is Australian – so now it all makes sense.  “Larakin – bush character full of life or mischief”

Bubbles

Another day … another card.  Yes I am really back in the swing of card making.  Hooray!

The card I have made for the Some Odd Girl challenge “Stitching” was totally inspired by my dgd who visited us a few weeks ago.  She has learnt to whistle – well done – and is so proud.  We had lots of little bottles of “bubbles” left over from a party and we all had fun blowing bubbles.  The best part was that dgd whistled every time she blew bubbles.  So cute.  Her favourite colour is PINK, so of course I have used pink as the feature colour. (Hope she likes the photo of the card.)

For today’s card I have used the digital stamp from Some Odd Girl “Tiny Bubbles Tia”.  The sentiment is an AmyR Stamp from the “Best Birthday Wishes” set.  Tia is coloured with Copics.  The paper is MME Hazel Papers “Stella Rose”.  I have die cut (MFT) the cloud then stitched around it.  I also stitched around the Pink and grey dotty paper and attached the bobbley ribbon with my sewing machine – hope it shows in the photo.

Here is today’s card –

I’m off now to link to the Some Odd Girl Stamps Blog.

See you tomorrow,

Song Inspiration

It has been a cold and wet weekend – back to winter weather, perfect for sitting inside and making cards. 😆

Today I want to show you my first “Corner Bookmark”.  I have seen these bookmarks all over the web but just hadn’t got around to making one for myself.  Now that I have there will be LOTS more – love them.

The challenge I have made the bookmark for is Your Next Stamp Challenge #50 “Song Inspiration”.  I have used the YNS “Mini Ellie Loves Music” stamp.  Apart from the music theme of the stamp it is a “mini” stamp which instantly made me think of the song “It’s a Small World”.

Here is today’s project –

I have used more dp from my stash – Basic Grey “Sugar Rush”.  The sweet sentiment, which I thought went really well with the theme, is from Verve Stamps.  The small amount of colouring was done with Copics.

That’s all for today.  See you tomorrow,

Christmas day 2

Welcome back.  I am definitely more in the mood to create at the moment.  I have the stamps I want to use lined up on the bench – has to be a good sign.

Today’s card once again uses up some of the dp which I have in my large stash of papers.  Like yesterday’s card it isn’t Christmas paper but I think the bright colours work okay.  The paper pad I used is from Cosmo Cricket “Material Girl”.  The cute stamp is from La-La Land “Sunny Christmas Marci” – Just perfect for an Australian Christmas.  The sentiment is a Whimsy Stamp from the “Holiday Ticket Sentiments” set.

Once again I am going to pop over to the La-La Land blog and add this card to their Customer Gallery. Click to have a look.

Here is today’s card –

Just realised that yesterday’s and today’s cards show the opposite ends of the scale when it comes to weather for Christmas.  Even though here in Australia it is hot in December we still celebrate as though it is winter and definitely send winter Christmas cards.

Bye for now,

Christmas Card

This is one of the first cards which I really have felt inspired to make (for several months I just really haven’t felt the “love” 😯 that I used to).  I’m hoping that the cough & cold which has hung around me for more than 3 months is now almost over and I will be back to really enjoying creating again.  A friend I had over to craft a few weeks ago inspired me to make this card – so A BIG THANK YOU (you know who you are :D).

The stamp I have used is from La-La Land Crafts “Marci with Snowman”.  Isn’t she cute?!  I am going to add this card to the La-La Land Customer Gallery (click to see the gallery).

Here is today’s card –

The sentiment I have used is from Whimsy Stamps “Holiday Ticket Sentiments”.  The paper is NOT a Christmas dp but I thought it worked.  It is from an older Basic Grey paper pad called “Sugared”.  I’m trying to limit new paper purchases until I use up some of the MANY I have – good intentions but let’s just wait and see if that happens in reality :D.  The doilie is from Martha Stewart and the “snow” is Flower Soft.  Of course I have coloured the image with Copics.

I’m off now to link to the La-La Land gallery.

Bye for now,

Violin Tilda

Welcome back.    I have a special card to show you today.  It is a “book card”.  I have seen some beautiful creations (mainly from northern European bloggers) while I have been web surfing and have promised myself that when I had plenty of spare time I would attempt one.   So now that my family visit is over 😦 and the market for this month is finished 🙂  I thought it would be the perfect time to attempt my take on a book card.  The All That Scraps Magnolia Challenge #13 – Stretch your Imagination seemed just right for this card.  See what you think –  (“warning Will Robinson” I have taken quite a lot few photos from different angles).

The space in the middle of the book is for a little gift (I’m sure you already guessed that ;))

This took me quite a long time and I wished quite often that I had an extra pair of hands.  For my first attempt I am quite happy.  If there is a next time things will be easier because I now know exactly what to do.

Well bye for now,

ATC’s – Needle & Thread

Woo hoo – I have just this minute finished my ATC’s for August for my second group.  The other women will be arriving any time now.

The theme is Needle and Thread and here is my sneak peek –

Gotta go.

Just popping in …

Just popping in quickly to remind you that I will be at the Caledonian Market tomorrow  (Sunday).   See details in my “About” page.  Come along and have a look and I know all the stall holders would love to see you.

Also wanted to show you a small fraction of the number of Ibis (I think) which landed on our land yesterday.  There were 100’s but they would move each time I tried to get a little closer so I ended up just zooming in on a few.

Are they Ibis?   Years ago you would see hundreds of these birds up near the Murray but it is only in the last couple of years I have seen them here.

Okay better get back to working on my market goodies.

Oh and yes … Happy Fathers Day to the dads out there … for tomorrow.

Bye for now,
