cards and other happy thoughts

Tag Archives: Christmas

Only one day left – woo hoo.  Are you ready?  I think I’m just about all prepared so now I can have a play here.  In Australia it is summer now but most of us still celebrate with a hot Roast lunch and hot Christmas pudding.  Crazy I know, the kitchen can be an incredibly steamy place with high temperatures, but I wouldn’t want it to be any other way. Those who don’t have the traditional lunch go all out with beautiful Aussie sea food.  I love a summer Christmas and here is someone else I think would enjoy it 🙂  –

Oh that is the best, I love it, such a wonderful song full of happiness.  Poor Olaf, if only he knew.  This is a better idea for an Aussie “snowman”.

Hope everyone enjoys their Christmas Holidays, may they be full of family and friends.

See you soon,

lorrai

Hello crafty friends.  A group of friends get together every month or so and last weekend was our last COD for 2014.  It just gets too busy and crazy from now until Christmas doesn’t it.

Here are 3 of the cards we made.

We are going to meet next year again but for 2015 we have set specific dates, which I think will prove a much better way to ensure everyone can come along.  We agreed that the group would meet on the last Saturday of each even month ie – February, April, June, August, October and the last for the year would be November.

Just a quick post today to keep you updated on what has been happening here.

Bye for now,

lorrai

Here is another project from our latest craft day –

A different type of card with quite a bit of measuring, cutting and folding but great fun.

The green triangle in the middle is for your message.  Using different papers would completely change the look of the card.  I’m thinking that light blue and white could look very pretty.

If you are interested in a tutorial just let me know and I’ll post the instructions.

Here is my next card.  Very quick and easy.  I found this card and I’ve just made 2 changes to make it my own.

The stamps are all from the one set “Winter Wonderland” from Mama Elephant”

I stamped the tree trunks with Iced Spruce Distress Ink and let it dry.  Next I stamped the deer and sentiment with VersaMark ink and heat embossed with black embossing powder.

I added some sparkly snow flakes which are difficult to see in the photo and finally added a curve of matching card covered in glitter to represent a snowy hill.

Now for some family photos.  We visited our eldest son’s family in Queensland last weekend to deliver their Christmas presents.  Ohh it was beautiful weather with clear blue skies – lovely.

Sorry gd you moved just as the camera snapped.

Cool dudes!

These kookaburra landed on their deck and weren’t intimidated by us at all.  They quite liked having their photos taken I think.

Today’s Christmas tags are totally inspired by Linda Duke.  Linda has a beautiful blog where she shares her wonderfully artistic work.  Pop over and have a look.  My tags are a very modest attempt at producing tags like Linda.

Here are mine –

I have simply stamped “to  and  from” on the back.

Hope you enjoyed taking a look at the tags, I really loved making them, so much fun to make something outside my usual style.

Our  next “Crafty Get-together” has come around quickly, it is this Saturday 9th November, 1 – 4 pm.  I have already shown you two projects, well here is the third, 2 Christmas tags –

We’re having another “crafty get-together” soon and everyone seemed keen to make some Christmas themed projects.  Yes I know – it seems like we have just got over last Christmas but it just a little over 2 months until the 25th.

This is a sneak peek at the first little project I have in mind –

Let’s just hope we can find a date which will suit everyone.  It is getting to that time of the year when everyone starts to have full diaries.

Over the next 3 months I am going to be quite busy with markets so I’m working on little things to add for Christmas.  Here’s an example of a few of the things I have been working on this week.

Can you help me with some ideas for little (paper) things that you would suggest or like to see on Christmas stalls.  I would love some new ideas.  It might seem early to be planning for Christmas but it’s not – I know I will still be panicking at the last moment but I do try to be prepared (and I haven’t even been a girl guide) 😆  I really need your help – so don’t be afraid to comment.  THANKS.

Hope to hear from you,

Welcome back.  I am definitely more in the mood to create at the moment.  I have the stamps I want to use lined up on the bench – has to be a good sign.

Today’s card once again uses up some of the dp which I have in my large stash of papers.  Like yesterday’s card it isn’t Christmas paper but I think the bright colours work okay.  The paper pad I used is from Cosmo Cricket “Material Girl”.  The cute stamp is from La-La Land “Sunny Christmas Marci” – Just perfect for an Australian Christmas.  The sentiment is a Whimsy Stamp from the “Holiday Ticket Sentiments” set.

Once again I am going to pop over to the La-La Land blog and add this card to their Customer Gallery. Click to have a look.

Here is today’s card –

Just realised that yesterday’s and today’s cards show the opposite ends of the scale when it comes to weather for Christmas.  Even though here in Australia it is hot in December we still celebrate as though it is winter and definitely send winter Christmas cards.

Bye for now,

This is one of the first cards which I really have felt inspired to make (for several months I just really haven’t felt the “love” 😯 that I used to).  I’m hoping that the cough & cold which has hung around me for more than 3 months is now almost over and I will be back to really enjoying creating again.  A friend I had over to craft a few weeks ago inspired me to make this card – so A BIG THANK YOU (you know who you are :D).

The stamp I have used is from La-La Land Crafts “Marci with Snowman”.  Isn’t she cute?!  I am going to add this card to the La-La Land Customer Gallery (click to see the gallery).

Here is today’s card –

The sentiment I have used is from Whimsy Stamps “Holiday Ticket Sentiments”.  The paper is NOT a Christmas dp but I thought it worked.  It is from an older Basic Grey paper pad called “Sugared”.  I’m trying to limit new paper purchases until I use up some of the MANY I have – good intentions but let’s just wait and see if that happens in reality :D.  The doilie is from Martha Stewart and the “snow” is Flower Soft.  Of course I have coloured the image with Copics.

I’m off now to link to the La-La Land gallery.

Bye for now,
