Good morning. Just a very quick post today because I have to be in town to deliver some papers by 8:30 am.
Over at the Copic Oz Blog the challenge this month is “B”- create a project (card, layout, off the page) using your Copic Markers to create a ‘B’ themed project.
Here is my entry –
The “B” theme – Blue, Brown, Blooms, Be Amazing paper.
The stamp is from Penny Black “Gossamer” and the sentiment is from Verve “Happy Hello” set.
Here are the Copics I used –
The papers are from the My Mind’s Eye paper pad “Be Amazing”. I really hated cutting into the paper because it is so pretty. Sometimes I don’t really want to use the paper, which is crazy I know, but if I really like it I am a bit of a hoarder. I think all of this paper pad is going to be like that.
I will have 2 more “B” cards tomorrow.
Bye for now,
I have just spoilt myself and bought some of the “cute as” Paper Smooches stamps and I am so pleased that I did ‘cos I love them. Coincidentally over at the Copic Oz blog they have a fun challenge – “Create a project using your Copic Markers to create a ‘B’ themed project”. Well I’m not going to enter these cards into the competition but I used it for inspiration.
“B” things – Blue, Baa-thday, Butterfly, Bee,
“B” things – blue, baby, boy, birth
“B” things – Blue, one white boomer (do you remember the Ralph Harris song “6 white boomers?), bound (stretching it a bit) 😀 This card is for any North Melbourne oops Kangaroos (AFL team) fans out there.
I have some more “B” themed cards for you tomorrow and I will also have the one I will enter into the competition.
These stamps are great fun and make quick and easy little cards.
Bye for now,
Do you remember that I said I had found some templates all cut out, scored and ready to go? Well here are the finished “Slices of Cake” gift boxes. I decided to make 4 different themes (although I’m now thinking that the same designs would have looked very cute).
Here they are, 3 small and 1 large –
and finally
They all open easily at the back so you can pop a “little something” inside.
Well that was so much fun. I have 2 favourites, can you guess which ones? Hope you enjoyed looking.
Bye for now,
I am continuing with my snail-paced clean-up and clean out and it is amazing what you find while doing so. I now have dozens of stamped images, some partly cut out or die-cut, some just about ready to be made into cards. The sweet Stampavie stamp by Penny Johnson “Easter Chick” was stamped and then I cut it out and coloured it. The PTI basket template by Kim Hughes was almost completely cut out. Put the 2 items together and an Easter Basket Card was just about ready to go. Is it only 3 weeks until Easter? Amazing!
Here is the result –
I have some other templates already cut out and scored which I will work on tomorrow and show you very soon.
Bye for now,
Have you noticed that I have been missing for a few days? It was a long weekend this past weekend with an extra day off work on Monday for “Labour Day”. Labour Day commemorates the granting of the eight-hour working day for Australians. It also recognizes workers’ contributions towards the nation’s economy. It is an annual public holiday and hey we love our holidays here in Australia.
It just happens that my birthday falls on (or close to) this long weekend each year and we usually go to the beach (I’m a Pieces so of course I love the sea 🙂 ).
Here is a photo of my ds, dsil and 2 of my dgs’s. The littlies were tired but we wanted to go for a walk so dads were the pack horses.
Just a very quick post today because now I have to get back into work, but I will have some card related things soon.
Bye for now,
I am slowly (I mean snail pace) cleaning out my craft room, have been for months but not getting far. My goal at the moment is to keep my stamping and card making magazines and books down to only 2 shelves. Here is the pile of mags going out.
I sat down and re-read each mag or book and made 2 piles, 1 keep and 1 out. I found quite a few articles which hadn’t interested me at the time but which I would like to try now. This is one of the articles which I found interesting because I now make ATC’s.
I thought that if it had the right number of pockets it would be a good wallet to hand over my set each month.
Here is my attempt –
I used the lovely papers from Glitz “Laced with Grace”.
This has 6 pockets but my ATC group has 9 people in it so I will make another a little wider to fit 9 pockets. I love it!
Bye for now,
Over the last couple of years I have made so many shoes that I was really “over them” – shoe cards that is. I have had about 5 months break from making them and I’m starting to enjoy them again.
Here is one that I’ve made for a dear auntie who turned 90 last month. Unfortunately we were late finding out about this wonderful milestone but we hope she will still enjoy receiving this card.
I’m not quite sure what I will put in the toe, perhaps some kisses.
Inside the card before we write our message.
and here is the final product in the little box which I made to suit the shoe.
Congratulations auntie.
Bye for now,
Another day, another card challenge. For today’s challenge I’ve used another Penny Black stamp. The challenge today is forPenny Black Saturday Challenge “CASE IT” and this is the card to CASE –

Here is my take –
I paper pieced the puppy’s tie from the aqua paper in the pad.

- Coloured with Copics
- Sentiment & paw prints – Tayloured Expressions
- Card – Bazzill
- Paper – Basic Grey “Max & Whiskers”
- Dies – Spellbinders
- Ribbon – from my stash.
Bye for now,
It is quite a while since I last entered a challenge so today I have remedied that. The challenge is“SPRING” at Penny Black and More @ Allsorts. They have some lovely prizes so go have a look and why not join in.
Oops! I have cut off the top and the card is slightly leaning to the right in this photo so here is another view –
This view gives you more of an idea of the layering.
I do loved shaped cards but sometimes the fold in the card annoys me. It did this time so I tried to disguise it a little with some embellishments.
Card Recipe –
- Stamp & Sentiment – Penny Black “Betsy Bluebell”
- Coloured with Copics
- White card stock – Bazzill
- Paper – DCWV “Mariposa Matstack”
- Dies – Spellbinders
- Fence – Martha Stewart punch
- Grass – The Cat’s Pajamas “Cut Ups”
- Flowers from my stash
- Fern Leaf – www.L-Em.com punch
- Pearls – Kaisercraft
- Small butterfly punch (unknown brand)
Bye for now,
There is a commercial on TV at the moment in which people very seriously state their resolutions eg. “I will strike the same pose in every photo”, “I will throw out food when it reaches its use by date – give a day or 2”, “I will not date super models”. I can’t remember what it is advertising but it is a funny ad. They are so serious about such trivial things and that is how I am feeling about my “kind of” resolution not to buy any new stamping supplies, which I made late last year. Yes that’s gone out the window. The other thing I promised myself was just to make cards that I would use. Well that’s out the window also.
I bought “Angel Marci” from La La Land Crafts last year to make Christmas cards but didn’t get around to stamping her out. Isn’t she sweet? She has been sitting there looking at me accusingly until I couldn’t resist any longer. I wondered what other cards I could make from her apart from Christmas. I came up with baby christening or even birth. What do you think?
Lots of layers, Kraft card and lil’ primrose papers from Kaisercraft. The card base and layers were cut with spellbinder dies. The sentiment is from PTI “bitty baby” set. The beautiful silk ribbon is from my stash. Angel Marci is coloured with copics. Looking at it complete I just wish I hadn’t put quite so much colour on her wings.
I’ll just have to put the card away for now and hope that I can find a reason to use it – I’m sure I will.
Bye for now
… and that’s not me I’m talking about. 😆
Here are some photos taken yesterday of some old cars which were parked behind my dh’s work. There must have been a rally on nearby. It is clear to see that they are dearly loved by their owners. You could almost see your face in the polished bodies. Just like beautiful works of art .
… and there were more parked around the corner.
I love the trunks on the back.
ddil and dbl having a peek into one which even had blinds.
Can you image the hours of work and dedication which must have gone into restoring them?
Bye for now,
The card I have to show you today I have made for my dear old mum, but her birthday isn’t until April, so I really am prepared very early. I thought the stamp I wanted to use would make a lovely card for a “mature” 😉 woman. If I had used other colours it would be quite different and could be for a younger person.
Here ’tis –
If you read my post showing my new ATC “backs” stamps you will know that the stamp company “Stamping Sensations” click here, generously added some extra stamps to my order. I thought I’d post this card with one of the stamps as a thank you to them. There are others also and I might post another at a later stage.
I did quite a bit to the flat image. Firstly I stamped the entire image on white card, then on acetate. Then I stamped the flower section twice more on white card. On the first of these I cut out all the flowers and leaves in one section then the centre flower only on the second. I cut out the vase only on the acetate. The acetate gives the vase a lovely sheen, hopefully the look of china. Using my beloved Copics I coloured the full stamped image as well as the extra flowers and leaves. Then it was only a matter of layering it up with clear raised squares and adding some small pearls. The frame is part of the stamp and I raised it up also.
I hope you can see a little of the layering here –
The papers are from Kaisercraft Lil’ Primrose. This paper pad is very pretty. The little tag is an old set of die cuts I have had “for ever” and I have used the others but never this little shape. I think it is quite cute.
Well that is all for today,
Why do we perceive time speeding up as we get older? Being a bit of a web surfer I searched for an answer to this question. There are answers out there but I’m still no wiser. 😀 What I did find was this poem originally by Henry Twells then adapted by Guy Pentreath.
Here is a collated version of the poem:
When I was a babe and wept and slept,
Time crept.
When I was a boy and laughed and talked,
Time walked.
When I became a youth and grew more bold,
Time strolled.
Then when the years saw me a man,
Time ran.
But day by day as I older grew,
Time flew.
Soon I shall find, in passing on,
Time gone.
Will there be anything of me In eternity?
You might be wondering why I was thinking that time is going faster and faster. Well I’m sure it was only a week or so ago that we were celebrating Christmas. Now the supermarkets are full of Easter goodies (terrible – they are so greedy) and blogs are showing easter cards and goodies – that includes mine. 🙂
I found this cute site on Etsy click here. I just HAD to buy the chicken set. I thought they were so cute and also appropriate as it is Oscar’s time and the chickens’ names are Sophia le Hen, Eggory Peck and Cluck Gable – clever hey.
Sophia
Cluck
Eggory
I ordered the templates Saturday and here they are on my blog on Monday. The templates are of very good quality and I think it is worth using heavier weight paper than printer paper. It is suggested you use 200 gsm but I used 190 gsm because I had 1/2 packet at home and didn’t want to buy more – it was fine. When I make more I will ink the edges and add some embellishments but first time I am very pleased with the results.
Bye for now,
I had been waiting for a challenge which would suit this Penny Black Stamp “Pinnacle” and I had found one which was to include lace and pearls – perfect. Oh no, when I went to add it to the link is said “closed 2 hours ago”. Can I make an excuse that it was an overseas site and the time zones confused me – not really – just got it wrong. Well it just has to go into my stash of cards now.
Here is a close-up of the sentiment section, which is from a Verve Stamp set –
I love those sweet little soft pink heart pins. Wish I had more of them. I used some Kaisercraft Pearls in white and silver on random flower centres and lace down each side. Behind the focal panel is a piece of crushed silver paper. I shaded the cake and leaves with Prisma pencils and coloured the flowers with Copics.
Well I’m off to look for another challenge but this one will have plenty of time left to finish my card 😉
Bye for now,
W
Here is this month’s sneak peek at my take on the “babies” ATC’s theme.
The digital stamp is “Bambino” from Sugar Nellie from Funky Kits. I coloured them subtly with Copics and paper pieced the baby beanie.
The “little sweet pea” sentiment and leaves are from PTI. I used some craft wire and curled it around a pencil to create the tendrils for the pea pods.
Just recently I purchased some unmounted rubber stamps for the backs of ATC’s from Stamping Sensations. This month the oval stamp is just perfect for my shaped ATC’s. Last year I just used the computer to make backs and that was okay but I thought if I was going to continue this year I would “shout” myself some stamps. There is an option to buy mounted stamps but because of shipping rates I chose to mount them myself.
The stamp company was very generous and added some extra stamps in my order and they are very much appreciated. Can’t wait to show you some of the results from these extra stamps.
Bye for now,
