cards and other happy thoughts

Dino

Monday again.  Have there been 6 days between or have we missed a couple this week?  Nevermind….. onto today’s card.

The challenge I am entering  is Catch the Bug Challenge “Polkadots and Stripes”.  I really enjoyed this challenge and I hope you enjoy the dinosaur.  Here it is:

I printed the digi image twice – once on blue polka dots and again on green polka-dotted paper.  Then I paper pieced the image and mounted it on a white rectangle.  No colouring – my goodness!

  • Digi stamp – Bugaboo (Dinos Stand)
  • Sentiment stamp – Hero Arts
  • Card – Bazzill
  • Paper – 3Bugs in aRug (Snips & Snails)
  • Dies – Clouds (My Favorite Things) Grass (Whiff of Joy)
  • Felt, Dew Dropts
  • Button & Twine – PTI

Bye for now,

Happy Birthday DD

It was my dd’s birthday yesterday and of course I had made a card for her.  I couldn’t show you the card until I had given it to her because she does read my blog.  So now here it is:

She is a music teacher hence the stamped image and music dp.  It is a bit “over the top” but if you can’t for your family then who can you?  The tea light is battery operated and flickers in real life.

I made a little box to put the card, etc. in and here it is:

Bye for now,

Over the Hill ????

Hello everyone.  I’m in a very vague mood today.  Very late with this post but I just can’t get going.  I think it is this “wintry” weather straight from the South Pole – brrrrr (and not even winter yet).  So I think the card I have made for the Catch The Bug Challenge – May Anything Goes is very appropriate for me 😐  I think one of my regular commenters will like this card (you know who you are).  She loves Bugaboo Stamps sense of humour.

Here is today’s card:

and another photo from the side

You can see it is an easel card and that Stella is raised on foam strips.

Card Recipe:

  • Digi Image – Stella Birthday Over the Hill
  • Coloured with Copics
  • Card – Bazzill
  • Paper – My Mind’s eye (Gertie)
  • Dies – Spellbinder and Whiff of Joy Grass
  • Assorted flowers,  stitching and Kaiser Rhinestones

Hope you enjoyed today’s card.

Bye,

Edited card class date

OOooopppps ……

In my post showing you sneak peeks [HERE] of a card class I will be holding at The Imagination Factory the date I have given you is incorrect.  The correct date is 25th May, 11am – 1pm.  See The Imagination Factory Class Timetable for May 2011 here.

Sorry ’bout that.  😳

When my baby smiles at me I go to Rio – De Janeiro

well not to Rio but close……..

I received a lovely surprise in the mail yesterday (I love getting snail mail and e-mail).  It was a beautiful little invitation to a baby shower.  Unfortunately a bit far for me to be able to attend.  It was from BRAZIL!!!!!

I met Vicka about 15 years ago (could it be that long ago?) when she was an exchange student from Brazil in Australia.  We got on rather well together and have kept in touch via email since.

Here are both the front and back of the sweet invitation:

I was rather touched by her thoughtfulness.

THANK YOU VIRGINIA.  I hope all goes well for the birth of your baby boy.  Sorry I couldn’t make it to the shower. 😥

Bye for now,

Mini Cuties

Today’s card is completely different to the one I started.  I wanted to include a treasure map, but what I saw in my mind and how it was evolving were two very different things.  So I stopped and began again and I am very happy with the final product – it makes me smile.  The “Mini Magnolias” are just so cute then add lots of sparkle well “happy happy joy joy”  😀

Here (eventually) is today’s card which I am entering in the “All That Scraps Magnolia Challenge #9 – Marvelous Magnolia “May” Moments… “   I hope I’m right in saying that in the northern hemisphere May is spring with the chance to get outside and to enjoy nautical things.  Makes me think of the song “Sitting on the Dock of the Bay).

Card Recipe:

  • Stamps – Mini Magnolias (x 4)
  • Coloured with Copics
  • Sentiment – Hero Arts
  • Card – Bazzill
  • Paper – American Crafts (Heat Wave) and Crate Paper (Restoration Collection)
  • Dies – Spellbinders
  • Button, twine – PTI

I drew in a couple of birds (I’m afraid that is as far as my drawing ability goes).

See you tomorrow,

Lady Bug Fly away Home

Yes we have flown home from sunny Queensland.    My dh has photos from our short break on his camera, so sorry, you will have to wait until I download them.  All good things must come to an end so now back into the joy of card making (have you guessed that I love it?).

Today’s post is all about flying home and ladybugs so that reminded me of the little poem we used to recite as children if a ladybird landed on you.  Only problem I couldn’t remember all the lines so I looked it up on the web and came up with 3 versions:

“Ladybird, ladybird fly away home,

Your house is on fire and your children are flown.

All but a little one under a stone”.

“Ladybird, ladybird, fly away home,

Your house is on fire,

Your children shall burn!”

“Ladybird, ladybird fly away home,

Your house is on fire and your children are gone,

All except one,

And her name is Ann,

And she hid under the baking pan.”

I think the second version (or a combination of a couple) was the one we used but I’m not sure.  That second version really got to the point didn’t it! 🙂

My card today is for All That Scraps Wednesday Challenge – May – Anything Goes.  You have to enter an “Anything Goes” challenge don’t you think?

Card Recipe:

  • Stamp – Pink Cat Studio (Lily Ladybug)
  • Coloured with Copics
  • Sentiment – (it might be an Elzybels??? they have closed down so I can’t check)
  • Birds from a Verve stamp set
  • Card – Hero Arts Kraft
  • Paper – My Mind’s Eye (Gertie)
  • Dies – Spellbinders
  • Cloud Die – MFT
  • Embossing folder – Craft Concepts (In Bloom)
  • Buttons, flowers, glitter, twine and Liquid Pearls

I’ll be back tomorrow with a card for All That Scraps – Magnolia Challenge (I hope I will have it finished by then, I am having a bit of trouble with it at the moment).

Bye for now,

Pumpkin – well I’m excited

Late last year I bought a beautiful little golden pumpkin.  I cut the top off and scooped out the seeds and filled it with minced beef, rice, vegies and spices then cooked it in the oven.  It was delicious.  DH saved the seeds and later planted them.  We didn’t really think they would grow because of all the chemical things they do to seeds and plants now.  But guess what?  We have 8 lovely little orangey pumpkins almost ready to pick.  We picked one this week to see if they are ready.  Well not quite but I cooked it and yes – delish.  We are very pleased with ourselves LOL.

Bye for now,

2nd Sneak Peek for Card Class

I’m back with a sneak peek of the 2nd card I’ll be demonstrating at The Imagination Factory (click or see sidebar) on the 18th May 25th May.

This card is a “sliding pop-up” card.  Hope you like it.  I think it is a fun card.  Well here is the prototype (it may be slightly different on the day but not much).

I am going to visit my son and family in Queensland for a few days so will see you when I get back.

Bye for now,

First sneak peek for card class

First of all I should apologise for being a bad blogger over the last week or so.  The time just seems to slip away – don’t you agree?  The markets have finished now until after winter so that should free up some time for me.

Some exciting news for me is that I will be holding my first “card class” at the Imagination Factory  (click or see side bar for their website) on the 18th May 25th May.  A bit daunting but I’m getting excited.  I have been working on a few ideas and I will give you a “sneak peek” at one of the cards today and the 2nd tomorrow.  Depending on how the class progresses there might be a 3rd if we have time.

The first card will be a “shaker” card and here is the prototype (might be slightly different by the time the class comes around):

I’m not sure how numbers are going for the class.  I sure hope I get some people along (would be embarrassing if I had to demonstrate to only 2 or 3 – although that might be a good thing for my first time) we’ll just have to wait and see 😳

Okay, see you tomorrow with a “sliding pop-up” card for the class.

Thanks Lyn

My cousin just forwarded this link to me – please take a look – you will love it.  Clever Dog

If we all had dogs like this Jack Russell  life would be sooooo easy  😀

Quick Post – Market Tomorrow

Here are two cards I have made for the market tomorrow (see “about” for details).  Mother’s Day is the following Sunday so therefore the cards.

If you want any information on papers, etc. add a comment and I will answer.  Now back to getting ready for tomorrow.

Bye,

Easter Family Photos

Some photos from the last few weeks at the beach.

dgs spent a lot of time on the playground in fact you would almost say he learnt to walk there, and now he tries to run.

Our niece lives in Finland and is visiting her parents here.  It was lovely to have a visit from them while we were at the beach.

I think their mum has influenced them to barrack for Geelong Football Club. (tck tck tck)

2 of our dgs with dh.

dgs is a good boy smiling for the camera.  Little cutie is really growing quickly now.

First ever ice cream.  Didn’t know how to tackle it really as the picture shows.  Should have taken his singlet off – he would have been easier to clean than his clothes.

Enough of Grandma bragging, but can you blame me?

See you soon,
