cards and other happy thoughts

Happy 1st Birthday

Happy Birthday to my DGS.  First day of Spring – what a lovely day to celebrate your birthday.

Here are some photos of DGS’s 1st birthday party and aftermath ….

DS holding DGS – a bit overwhelming perhaps.

Iggle Piggle birthday cake. (These new children’s TV shows sure have unusual names not like the ones I used to watch eg. Bill & Ben the Flower Pot Men etc) 🙂

Sometimes the wrapping paper can be just as interesting as what is inside.

“I’ll keep my eyes closed and guess –  mmmm – perhaps a train”

Hope you have a lovely day.

Baby Elephant

I needed a card to go with this cute gift for a new grandson of a woman who works with my husband.

You can tell it is navy blue in this photo but when I first saw him I thought it was “black” so I made a black and white card.  I don’t think I have many navy blue papers anyway.

Here is the card –

Another quick post, so bye for now,

We have a winner/s

Blog Candy Winner (was only supposed to be one winner).  We actually have 2 winners.  DGC both wanted to choose the winner and rather than have tears we have 2 winners now.

Congratulations to Rhonda (woo hoo)  she will win the original prize and Brenda (woo hoo too) I will make up something similar for you.  It looks like your name had to end with “da” to be a winner,  lol.

It was a very serious process therefore the serious faces 😀  The photos aren’t good but they had to be taken quickly because littlies don’t grasp the concept of holding a pose 😛

Bye for now,

Music ATC

This month’s ATC theme at The Imagination Factory is “MUSIC”.  I had a reminder that it wasn’t long until they were due so I thought I had better get going with them – and here is a sneak peek at the result (it had to be quick because I have heaps of things to do).

I am also in the process of making “something special” for a challenge and I am using the same Magnolia stamp because she is so cute.

Gotta’ go,

Hair challenge….

Hello all.  What a lovely weekend we have had weather-wise.  Unfortunately one of my DGS had to go for a quick visit to the hospital with a cut mouth.  But I believe all is well now.

Today’s card is for Copic Oz Challenge “It’s all About the Hair”.  This is my second entry.  Here is the card –

Card Recipe –

  • Stamp – Wild Rose Studio (Mia with Present)
  • Coloured with copics – hair colours YR12, YR04, E97, E08

  • Paper – Whiff of Joy (Spring Paper Kit)

I won’t be posting quite as often over the next 2 weeks because we have family visiting and the next Craft Market is coming up very quickly – 2 weeks away .

Bye for now,

Strawberries

What a beautiful day we are having – almost a crime to be inside making cards (no I didn’t say that!) ;).  Last night  I made some  strawberries and box while I was watching TV.  Friday & Sunday nights are really the only nights that I watch TV.  Why you may ask?  Well I watch 2 episodes of “Escape to the Country” and then “60 Minute Make Over” (both British programs) by then it is midnight.  I really enjoy those programs especially the first.  I’m sure I’m not the only one – anyone else enjoy these shows?

Well today I am entering “Your Next Stamp challenge #49 – Fruit Inspiration”.  I have made a little tag to go with the Strawberries and box which I made from a template I purchased from MFT.

Tag Recipe –

  • Stamp – Your Next Stamp (Berry Patch Ellie) pst… had to buy this one because it is my DGD’s name.
  • Coloured with Copics
  • Die – Magnolia Doohickey
  • Ribbon – PTI
  • Card – PTI

I’m off outside now, see you soon,

Mwah (kisses)

This is my second post for today (wow I think it might be a first for me).

Have just finished a “stocking stuffer” and am only just in time to join in  Mo’s Challenge #95 – Anything BUT a Card!!

I will pop it into a cellophane packet and tie with a bow, but for the photo I have left it out because of the shine on the packet.

Don’t you think this “Little Smooch” digital image by Mo Manning is just calling out to have some LIP BALM attached.  Well that is what I have done.  I based the colour scheme around the Lip Balm tube colours.

Here is today’s project –

Sorry about the lighting (I’m going to do something about my photo quality SOON).

Card Recipe –

  • Digit Stamp Image – Mo Manning (Little Smooch)
  • Coloured with Copics
  • Sentiment – Stamping Bella
  • Card – PTI and Bazzill
  • Paper – October Afternoon (Campfire)
  • Die – Spellbinders
  • Lip Balm

Hope you enjoyed this fun little project      and    don’t forget to comment on my “blog candy” post.

Bye for now,

Blog Anniversary

EDITED TO ADD – scroll down to see newer posts if you have already read this post.

Sorry I am so late posting today but I have a good reason – honestly.  Our electricity was off from 6:30 – 8:30 this morning.  It is extremely windy here today so I’m guessing a tree had fallen over the wires somewhere.  Any way it is back on now thank goodness.

Now on to happier things.

It is 12 months since I started this blog –  HIP HIP HOORAY.  I am really enjoying the experience, in fact I am a bit too keen according to my family :D.

To celebrate I have some “candy” to give away.

Here is the “blog candy”

  • 1 metre ribbon x 2
  • .5 metre lace
  • 10 (or so) assorted flowers
  • 20 (or so) buttons
  • Copic Swatch Book (not the new one sorry)
  • Inkadinkado  Stamp Set (You Make Me Smile)
  • 15 x 15 papers x 6
  • plus a few little surprises!

OR if you prefer  3 of any of my cards from the last 2 months.

My audience is relatively small so I’m hoping that everyone will come out of their shells and comment.  All I would like you to do is tell me which type of card or project you would like to see me make.  You might refer back to one that I have already made which you noticed and enjoyed or a totally new style – completely up to you.  In fact as long as you leave a comment on this post, no matter what it is about, you are in the running to win – woo hoo.

This “candy” is open to all no matter where you live and will remain at the top of the blog for one week until 24th August.   One of my grandchildren (who will be visiting me then)  will draw the winner on the  25th August ’11.

Okay that’s all for today so now I’m looking forward to reading some comments (see below).

Good luck to everyone,

Ooo la la

Hello again.  The challenge I am entering today is the Penny Black Challenge “Gold-Red-Cream”.  I just love the card that Jill Foster has made which has the challenge colours (click on the link above to see it).  Here is my entry –

Bye for now,

Guess where!

DH and I have been away for the weekend.  Searching for some blue skies.  Well we found them.  I’ll show you some photos of our trip and I’m sure you will know where we have been.

1st photo is 20 minutes into the trip – just over the Great Divide (always a little warmer)

Next some road-side wattle – BEAUTIFUL

a different type of wattle

We hadn’t noticed so much mistletoe before – here is some on its host tree.  The host tree looks a little worse for wear.

and more, can you see it on the trees in the background?

We have arrived at our destination and spotted a Galah up the a beautiful old gum tree (sorry about the bad angle 🙂 he/she  moved just as I clicked).

the next one is a most unusual tree  !?!?  I think it might be a “Thongsbysomesillyfoolias” 😀

Now these really give our destination away –

Yes of course we are at Echuca on the Murray River.  We only decided to go on Wednesday evening and I booked on Thursday morning.  Luckily we were able to get a nice clean little Motel room for one night which was all we needed.  We had a nice weekend relaxing.

We are home again and there are blue skies here as well.  So that is great.

Bye for now,

Paint the town Blue?

Welcome back.  I had fun with today’s card – I did some paper piecing and colouring (what more could you want).  The card is for the My Favorite Things Week #32 – Sketch Challenge.  Here is the sketch –

I have just realised that in 3 days time it will be my 1st  year blogging anniversary.  This year has flown by.  I would’ve liked to have reached 10,000 hits on my blog but that won’t quite happen.  Still it will be about 30 peeps per day – not too bad for a girl from the “sticks”.  I will have to think up some way to celebrate  😉

Bye for now,

Colours – red and yellow and…..

This has to be super quick because I am babysitting and just have a moment to post.

Today I am entering the Wee Memories Challenge #63 “Dare to Colour”.  You have to use at least 4 colours on the card.  I have 6 at least.
