Tickled Pink Stamps Challenge #7

Sneaking in another challenge.  Tickled Pink Stamps Challenge #7 “Fabrics”.    I found this a really difficult challenge.  Why?  I don’t know, it shouldn’t be as difficult as I have made it.  Perhaps it was the littlies helping me stamp 🙂

As children, my sister and I had a beautiful book about fairies who lived in different flowers and each fairy looked like the flower she belonged to.  I loved that book and even now as I colour this fairy image I know I just had to have flowers for her to live in.  I wish I knew the name of that book.  Was there a rainbow in the story or was that another which I am confusing it with?

  • Stamp Image – Tickled Pink – DIGI- Lil Allsorts – Fairy Kira
  • Coloured with Copics

Bye for now,

High Hopes – #102 – Valentines

I have a window of opportunity (the Grandchildren are at the beach for a couple of days) to post a card for High Hopes Challenge #102 “Valentines”.  So here is my card –

  • Stamps – High Hopes (Little Nutty Buddy) sentiment – (Nuts for you)
  • Coloured with Copics
  • Paper – Graphic 45 (Once upon a Springtime)
  • Embossing Folder – Cuttlebug (spots) – Sizzix (Cracked)
  • Dies – Circles (Spellbinders)  Leaves (Magnolia Doo Hickeys)
  • Dew Drops
  • Ribbon

Hope you like this little card.  I’m not one for “soppy” sentiments so I think this is great.

Bye for now,

Grandchildren’s visit

Here are a few photos of part of the Grandies visit.  They are having a couple of days at the beach and will be back soon.

Because we live on a small farm the birthday theme was of course “farm”.  Here are two littles ready to blow out the candles on their shared birthday cake.

Whoever made this Pinata had a very warped sense of humour – poor little things hit and hit and whacked but it just would not break.  Eventually ds cut around the middle to help but it still didn’t break.  With all the hitting it fell down and then it broke spilling its goodies.

Little gs just loves tractors and motorbikes so of course he would try to scoop up the goodies from the pinata with the tractor. 🙂

A treasure hunt in the sandpit.  They really weren’t old enough to grasp the concept and needed quite a bit of coaxing.

A ride behind the tractor to see the cows.

Gentle rides on the quad bike.

Cousins playing with the animals from the birthday cake.  Smallest cousin was asleep but I’m sure he will be playing along next year.

Thanks for indulging me with my photos of grandchildren.  😛

Bye for now,  I’ll be back later with a card for a competition.

New Stamps – woo hoo

I dropped into the Imagination Factory last week (I know you will not be surprised at that) and Tracey had some samples of beautiful new stamps – woo hoo.  Here is the first card I have made inbetween games while having the grand children visiting.  The little chicken would be perfect for Easter of course but I wanted to see if I could use it for other occasions so I made an easel card for a new baby.

  • Stamp – Stampavie – Penny Johnson (Easter Chick)
  • Coloured with Copics
  • Sentiment – mixture of PTI sentiments
  • Papers – Echo Park (Little Girl)
  • Dies – Spellbinders – Ovals, Whiff of Joy – Grass
  • Buttons – PTI
  • Ric Rac and Lace
  • Glitter

I’ll be back in a couple of days with another card and some photos of our family visit.

Bye for now,

Begonias 3

Here is the next photo of the Begonias.  As you can see the white one is doing exceptionally well.  The pink is not yet fully in bloom, but not long now.

Bye for now,

Mojo Monday #177

Today’s card uses the very first stamp I ever bought (well I think it was the first – it is years ago now).  Do you know I have never made a successful card with this stamp until now – I think this one works.  I am entering the card in the Verve Mojo Monday #177 – Contest.  Here is the sketch we are to follow –

The Circle

Enjoyed my day at “The Circle” (daytime talk show).  It was surprising what a very small area the studio is and the audience capacity is very small also.  Another surprising thing was the number of camera men and floor staff who had to fit in that area.  My daughter and I had our 5 seconds of fame as the camera panned around on a couple of occasions  8)  .

My card today is for the All that Scraps Wednesday Challenge  “Anything Goes”. Click on the link to have a look.  It is hard to see in the photo but the top layers are popped up on foam adhesive which gives a window type look to the card.  The ribbon I used is part of a prize I won a couple of weeks ago – I love it.  I had seen this wrinkled ribbon on many blogs over the last few months and am thrilled to have some for my cards now.

Here is my entry:

It is difficult to show you the window effect – here is a close-up which shows it a little better.

  • Digital Stamp – Sweet November (Arabella)
  • Coloured with Copics
  • Sentiment – Rub-on (Kaiser)
  • Paper – Basic Grey (Wisteria)
  • Ribbon – (Hand Dyed Seam Binding Wrinkle Ribbon)
  • Leaf Punch – L-em.com
  • Flowers – Prima (I think)

Bye for now,

2 challenges in one card

Today’s challenges are new ones for me.  The first is Magnolia Down Under Challenge #82.  The theme is – LOVE – it can be a Valentines Day project, or wedding, or baby.  The next is Wild Orchid Challenge #16 – Love is – so this could be something for a loved one, your sweetheart, a friend, something you love etc.

I tried my hand at shading white for her hair and wings.  What do you think?  Does her hair look white or grey?  I’m thinking I’ll have to buy some lighter greys to get the right effect.  Anyway here is my entry:

  • Stamp – Magnolia (Tilda with Hearts)
  • Sentiments – Love (PTI) I love you (Cornish Heritage Farm)
  • Papers – PTI
  • Flowers – Wild Orchid
  • Dies – Spellbinders
  • Ribbon, lace, key, glitter
  • I also cut out some hearts from the paper I used and popped them up.

Tomorrow I’m off to be in the audience for “The Circle”.  That should be fun and interesting.  I’ll let you know.

Bye for now,

Papercraft Star Challenge #31

Edited – just too late to enter the competition – nevermind, I enjoyed making it.  😮

Back from the beach (where the sun decided to shine when we were leaving).  Today’s card is for the Papercraft Star Challenge #31.  I think the sketch is one I should keep because it’s very user-friendly.  A nice sentiment in the centre and some embellishments and you have many options for cards.  Here is the sketch –

Here is my entry:

  • Stamp – Verve (Beautiful You)
  • Background Stamp on strip – Hero Arts (Old Letter)
  • Paper – Basic Grey (Curio)
  • Doily – Paper Inklings
  • Flowers – Wild Orchid
  • Leaf Punch – L-em.com
  • Flourish – Kaiser

Bye for now,

Begonias

Hello, we are sitting in the caravan waiting for everything to dry up.  Wow what rain!  Looks like things are improving but the bureau says there is more on the way, but much less than yesterday – thank goodness.

Well here is the link I promised yesterday for the “fortune-telling” paper-folding game – http://www.mathematische-basteleien.de/fortune_teller.htm

Here are a couple of progressive photos of our begonias one last week and one this week.  Won’t be long and they will be fully out.

Bye for now,

Toppers

Good morning all.  Lovely and cool this morning.  No cards to show you today but a couple of other bits and pieces.

First of all do you remember as a child making these little folded “fortune-telling” games.  You had to pick a number, which was written on each of the triangles, unfold, then you had to pick a colour and then unfold again and it told you who you loved…. 😉  I had forgotten all about them until I was looking on the web for unusual folding cards and found these.  What fun we used to have with them.  Do you remember how to fold them?  I didn’t but luckily they had the instructions.   I’ll let you have a try to fold them and tomorrow I will give you the web link incase you are like me and couldn’t remember how.

the underside

Now back to work.  I am in the process of making some chocolate covers.  Here are the toppers ready for the wrappers.  I had better get back to work and finish the covers and ribbons and bows.

See you tomorrow with the link for the childrens’ game.

I {Heart} Tilda

Good news (relatively) this morning for Queensland, no serious injuries or deaths from cyclone Yasi.  Lots of damage, which is to be expected.  Very early yet so we will hear much more as the morning progresses.  Queensland has had more than their share of disasters this year with the horrific floods and now the cyclone.

I have just received a parcel with this gorgeous Tilda “Will You be My Valentine”.  Had to use her straight away (can you blame me, she is so colourable).  Yesterday one of my readers, who leaves fairly regular comments (thank you I really appreciate comments), said she loved the colours of the little easel card.  With this in mind I chose those types of colours again today and I agree with her the pink and green really work.

There are 2 challenges which I think this card is eligible for.  The first is All That Scraps Magnolia Challenge #6 “Queen of Hearts” and the second is Copic Oz “A love challenge”.  I have made a regular shaped card with a few understated accessories and no glitter  😦  because I think “Tilda” deserves to be the feature.

  • Stamp – Magnolia (Will you be my Valentine Tilda)
  • Sentiment – Verve (Swan Song)
  • Hearts stamp – Paper Craft (Occasions)
  • Paper – My Minds Eye
  • Dies – Spellbinders
  • Ribbon, flowers

See you tomorrow,

Wild winds & a card

Yesterday we took our caravan down to the beach (for the mini season) but unfortunately we weren’t allowed in. All the holidayers had been evacuated to the beach because the gale-like winds were pushing trees down, 50-year-old cypress’s, so they are NOT small,  all over the park – onto caravans and annexes for some poor people. We went to another park and left our van there until the weekend when we should be allowed back in to our original site to set up.  Hope so because I love spending some of my time there.  (Guess what I usually take with me – yes – card making equipment – sad isn’t it!)

Now on a brighter note, below is my entry into the Verve Stamps – Mojo Monday Challenge – #176.  Here is the sketch for the challenge this week –

I am loving these little round easel cards at the moment so you will probably see a few in the next few weeks.

  • Stamps – Verve (from Beautiful You set,  Blue Skies set)
  • Stamp sentiment – Hero Arts (part of  Thinking of You stamp)
  • Paper – Prima (Fairy Flora)
  • Flowers – Wild Orchid
  • Leaf Punch – L-em.com
  • Pearls, scrap of ribbon
