This year ANZAC day falls on Easter Monday so we have two things to commemorate. Here is a link for those who don’t live in Australia and have no idea what I am talking about ANZAC.
I haven’t made a card for ANZAC Day but I have made some yummy Anzac Biscuits with just a tiny twist (they usually don’t have choc chips in them). This recipe is from the “Summer Coles Free Magazine” from last year.
Choc-chip Anzac biscuits
Makes 30
- 1 cup rolled oats
- 1 cup plain flour
- 3/4 cup castor sugar
- 1/2 cup shredded coconut
- 125 g butter
- 1/4 cup golden syrup
- 1/2 tsp bicarbonate of soda
- 1 cup Nestle Choc Bits Milk
- Preheat over to 180 C or 160 C fan. Line 2 baking trays with non-stick baking paper.
- Combine dry ingredients in a large bowl. Melt butter and golden syrup in a small saucepan. Add bicarb and stir until foamy. Poor over dry ingredients and mix to combine. Stir through choc bits.
- Place heaped tablespoons of mixture onto prepared trays, allowing room for spreading. Flatten slightly and bake for 8 – 10 mins, until golden. Cool on trays.
Note: Store biscuits in an airtight container for up to 4 days.
Here’s a photo: yummy
Today’s card is for the Papercraft Star Challenge # 42 – Earth Day. I really enjoyed this challenge. Here is my entry –
The recycled things on my card are
- the cardboard panel is from packing (from stamping parcel I received – fancy that)
- little gum nuts from under a tree
- I swiped around the image panel with used tea bag.
Card Recipe:
- Digi image = Make it Crafty (Aussie Outback Shack)
- Coloured with Copics
- Sentiment – PTI
- Card Bazzill
- Recycled cardboard
- Gum nuts
- Crimper – Fiskars
We think that “recycling” is a very new and trendy thing to do “look at me aren’t I clever” but if we look back we can see that Australia’s pioneering heritage and the “Depression” in the 1930’s made the population great “recyclers” before their time.
Look at Ned Kelly for example. His family made plough shears into body armour – great recycling Ned.
Our grandparents were very creative because they had to be. The humble kerosene “kero” tin was a much recycled material being flattened to patch or even completely construct walls. The tins were also used for letter boxes, drawers, cupboards, etc, etc. 44 gallon drums were also re-used extensively. Wheat bags were also recycled to make “vintage” 😀 mats, aprons, etc. Repairs were ingenious using fencing wire and twine and anything else that was on hand. I’m sure you have seen letter boxes made from old milk tins and barbeques from old steel drums. Alright that’s more than enough from me. See you soon.
I am popping in to enter Wee Memories – Challenge #52 “. This weeks challenge is “All Things Adorable” … cute animals, kids, etc. Anything that says “adorable” to you. I think this little bunny is ADORABLE, hope you think so too. Here is today’s card:
Sorry the photo is poor. I am away from home so my computer facilities are limited.
Edited – I have added a little bit better photo now that I am home.
Card recipe:
- Stamp image – Cuddly Buddly (Toby Tumble)
- Coloured with Copics
- Sentiment – Tayloured Expressions
- Card – Bazzill
- Paper – October Afternoon (Farm Fresh)
- Flowers – Prima, Wild Orchid
- Dies – Spellbinders
- Ribbon
I’ll try to drop back again soon,
Wishing you “hoppy” thoughts at Easter.

Enjoy your holidays and take care on the road.
Here’s a bunny joke for you (don’t groan to loudly).
“What do you get if you pour boiling water down a rabbit hole?
Hot cross bunnies. ”

Bye for now,
Welcome back to another card challenge. I thought I should start making a couple of Mother’s Day cards as it is only a couple of weeks away. It actually feels like quite a while since I made a card (I’m not counting ATC’s as “normal” cards).
Today’s card is for By LORi Designs Challenge – BLDC13. This is the inspiration:
I’m really liking these colour challenges. Don’t know if I’m getting them exactly right but they are a good way for me to get some inspiration. So here is the card:
Card recipe:
- Digi image – By LORi Designs (Girl with cart)
- Coloured with Copics
- Sentiment letters – ADORNit (Flirtacious)
- Butterfly stamp – Hero Arts (Clear Promotion Set)
- Card – Bazzill
- Paper – Kaisercraft (Class of ’87)
- Flowers – Wild Orchid
- Leaf Punch – L-em.com
- Dies – Spellbinders
- Glitter
I printed the “cart” section of the digi image twice and cut out the 2nd image and raised it with foam to give a bit of dimension for the flowers to sit on. It’s a nice thought that the little girl picked some flowers for her mummy but I hope they weren’t from the neighbour’s garden. 🙂
I’m hoping to get back with one more card before Easter, so bye for now,
Hello. Well I have finished the next group of ATC’s. The theme for the Imagination Factory ATC’s for April is “Movies”. My dd actually suggested this movie. Let’s see if you can guess which film I have tried to depict.
Any guesses anyone? The Hero Arts set I used suggested itself to me. It’s not quite right but close enough I think. Come on have a guess – pretty easy (I hope). It’s not “Desperate Housewives” in case you were thinking that – I’m pretty sure the little captions count that out. Do you think the one in blue looks a bit like Nicole Kidman?
I’ll let you know tomorrow if you have guessed correctly.
Hello, I’m back with a very early peek at one group of ATC’s. I thought that I should start early on the 2 groups because Easter is just around the corner and I don’t think I will be “crafting” during the holiday break.
The theme for this group for April is (you’ve probably guessed) EASTER. My cards don’t actually say Easter but they have the theme covered I think. Here they are:
The plan is to be back tomorrow with the 2nd group of ATC’s, but as they say “best laid plans of mice and men…”. Hopefully I’ll be back tomorrow.
Good morning (or evening depending where you are). Thanks to everyone who sent me “get well” wishes. I feel like a bit of a “sook” now because it really is only a cold but my head feels like it is filled with cotton wool (some might say what’s new Lorraine 😕 ). It will run its course and I will be better again thanks.
Now onto today’s card and challenge. I am entering this happy little card in Whiff of Joy Challenge #102 – A recipe. This is the recipe – 3 buttons, 2 papers and 1 ribbon must be included on the card. Okay I can do that. Here is my card:
Isn’t this stamp just lovely. It comes with a sentiment “Laughter is the best medicine” but after I coloured it I thought that it just had to be a HAPPY birthday card. I’ll use the sentiment a lot in the future though I’m sure.
Card recipe:
- Stamp – Whiff of Joy (Someone to cheer you up)
- Coloured with Copics
- Sentiment – Paper Craft (Expressions)
- Card – Bazzill
- Paper – Whiff of Joy ( Fruhlings ??)
- Dies – Spellbinders
- Ribbon, buttons
- Dimensional Magic (on flowers & balloons – you can see I took the photo while it was still wet)
Have a lovely weekend,
Well I’m still here – still fighting off a cold but feeling a bit better.
Today’s project is for Copic Oz “Easter” Challenge (see below) and
Papercraft Star : Challenge 41. This is the inspiration:
“Create an Easter inspired project using one or more of these colors”.
I decided to use one of the pillow boxes I have had tucked away in a draw for a couple of years. I decorated it for a little girl and I am also making one for a little boy but you will see that lower in the post. Here it is:
and here is the cover pulled up so you can see what is inside:
I will stamp their names on the top (but I didn’t want them in the photo).
I will also enter these in the Copic Oz Challenge “EASTER”.
Here is the pillow box for a little boy:
and here are the two little projects:
Project recipe:
- Digi images – Pink Cat Studios (Hopping Bunnies)
- Coloured with Copics
- Sentiment – Amuse Stamps
- Card – Bazzil
- Papers – Prima (Fairy Flora) Basic Grey (Oliver)
- Dies – Spellbinders
- Grass Die – Whiff of Joy
- Pears & Rhinestones – Kaisercraft
- Bunny tails – Doodlebug (White flock)
- Liquid pearls for nose and paw pads
Bye for now,
This time the rocker is the card. I used the large oval dies from Spellbinders to trim the bottom of the card and paper so the dear little baby card would rock from side to side. I kind of think that is how an elephant walks – well I’m using my imagination. The card rocks really well – I wish I could show you.
Anyway this card is for By LORi Designs Challenge #12. This is the inspiration:
Here is my “Sweet baby” card –
Card recipe:
- Digi stamp – By LORi Designs (Ella the Elephant)
- Coloured with Copics
- Sentiment – PTI (heat embossed)
- Card – Bazzil
- Paper – Basic Grey (Olivia) have used this paper a lot recently – it must suit my mood at the moment
- Embossing Folder – Cuttlebug (Swiss Dots)
- Dies – Spellbinders
- Ribbon – unknown
- Glitter, button
I’m not feeling very well, I think I am fighting off a cold, so I might have to miss posting tomorrow.
Bye for now,
Hello. Today I’m back to join in the Penny Black Saturday Challenge – Week 146 “Say it with Flowers”. Plenty of flowers on this card – background paper, stamp with bouquet and embellie flowers. The card is for “Grandma” – the little boy has flowers for her and the little girl is throwing kisses (what more would a Gran want?) so I think that is very clearly “saying it with flowers” 🙂
Without further ado here is the card –
Card recipe:
- Stamp – Penny Black (Mimi & Miles)
- Coloured with Copics
- Sentiment – computer generated
- Card – Bazzil
- Paper – Basic Grey (Hopscotch)
- Dies – Spellbinders
- Fence punch – Martha Stewart
- Flowers – Francheville & Wild Orchid
- Faux stitching – white Signo pen
- Glitter
- WHAT – no ribbon 😯
Bye for now,
Yes I’m entering today’s card in Verve’s Mojo Monday 185 Contest.
I turned the sketch upside down but apart from that it fits fairly well. The glue is still wet so it shows a bit but once it is completely dry it will disappear. Here is my entry:
Card recipe:
- Stamps – Verve (Happy Days)
- Paper – My Mind’s Eye (Hazel Paper Pad)
- Card Bazzil and PTI
- Circle Die – Spellbinders

Bye for now,
NOTE: I have edited this post to add a clearer photo and a list of the card ingredients.
I am very late posting today – sorry. Before I could post I had 3 request cards to make. Well they are finished now and I am at the beach (bliss).
Today’s card is for Wee Memories = Challenge #50 COLOUR . What a great theme. I was able to use red, which for many challenges isn’t possible. I am so thrilled with this digi stamp. (I’m afraid I left all the brand names, etc at home so I will have to update this post on Sunday when we go home.) 😦
Hope you like this card as much as I do. I will put a better photo to replace this one on here once we get home.
Hopefully this is a clearer photo.

Bye,
Do you remember the little rhyme “Roses are red” it was a favourite for autograph books?
Roses are red,
Violets are blue,
Sugar is sweet;
And so are you.
Of course as children there were other cheeky versions. There were lots of cute little ditties for autograph books. Another one I remember was to do with a cloud’s silver lining. Can you remember others? I would love to hear some and whether you still have your autograph book. I do (somewhere).
Well here is the card which prompted this memory.
A friend gave us a tutorial on how to make the rose from paper serviettes. I forgot to write down the product (tisk) which was used to mould sections of the rose and leaves. A day later it was dry and I cut it out and added some glitter then added it to the front of the card. I’m sorry that the photo doesn’t show the dimension at all. You’ll just have to picture it in your mind.
Card recipe:
- Card – Bazzil
- Paper – DCWV (Mariposa matstack)
- Pearl flourish – Kaisercraft
- Dragonfly – K&Company
- Dies – Spellbinders
- Flower – Paper serviettes, acetate, product like Mod Podge
- Glitter
I’ll be back tomorrow with another challenge card.
Hello again. Have you guessed from the title that today’s card is going to feature a dinosaur? Well it is. Like a lot of card makers, I find it difficult to make cards for boys or men. So it was going to be a real CHALLENGE when I read on the High Hopes Stamps blog that Challenge #106 – is “For the Boys”.
Before I show you the card you have to put up with a couple of jokes
Q: What do you get when dinosaurs crash their cars
A: Tyrannosaurus wrecks!
Q: What did the dinosaur say after the car crash
A: I’msosaurus
Yes well, better g et on with the card 😳
Notice that he is looking very happy now, he hasn’t noticed the grey clouds building up behind him. Just as well he doesn’t know what is going to happen to him and his friends (sad).
The little card is an easel card so here is a side view.
The stamp really has the sentiment shaped above his back and he is holding a heart. When I cut him out I cut off the heart and placed a separate piece of card with happy birthday in his paws. I only inked up the sentiment section and stamped it on the base. These sort of small changes can make your stamps more versatile. I was thinking that if you added something like “from one old fossil to another” it could be a humorous adult card.
Card Recipe:
- Stamp – High Hopes (Dino-mite Dino)
- Coloured with Copics
- Sentiment – High Hopes & Verve
- Paper (I have cut the name off – does anyone know?)
- Embossing folder – Craft Concepts (Wood grain)
- Dies – Spellbinders
- Grass die – Whiff of Joy
- Twine and button (PTI)
- Dimensional Magic (for his spots)
I’ll be back tomorrow with a card with a feature taught to me yesterday by a friend.
