cards and other happy thoughts

Seize the Cupcake

Hello friends!  I have a cute card (I think ;)) today for the High Hopes Challenge “Birthday”.  I have just made it in time for this challenge – only one day to go.  I have used the cute High Hopes stamp “Cuppy Cake Jake” and the sentiment, which I thought was absolutely appropriate, by Penny Black “Seize Cup Cake”.  I stamped the cup cake twice then coloured and cut out the second cup cake icing and attached on top of the original with foam tape. I then cut out the stamped image, tied a bow around his tail and attached to the card.    The stamped sentiment was left in the die and roughly sprayed.  This left the nice clean edge around the die cut.

Here is today’s card –

I’m off now to link up to the High Hopes challenge.

Bye for now,

I scream, you scream, we all scream

for ice cream…..

Fun, fun, fun.  I’m still trying to inspire myself to make some different cards.  What better way than to make a card about something you love –  ICE CREAM.

There are lots of templates out in blogland for ice cream cones.  The one I used is found here.

What do you think the flavours are?

I’m thinking – Pistachio  –  Strawberry  –  Vanilla with Flake  –  Watermelon.

Hope you enjoyed these little cards.

Bye for now,

Never work with animals or children

Never work with animals or children ……. well that’s what they say, but I really enjoyed working with them 😉  for this month’s Hero Arts August Challenge – “Cards for Kids, Creatures and Make a Scene.  Only sad side to this challenge is that I have lost a fish.  Yes the small transparent fish stamp has disappeared.  I have looked in the bin and on the floor, even cleaned the desk but to no avail.  I’ll give it another go tomorrow in the daylight.

I couldn’t decide which Hero Arts creature stamp to use so I used four and made little gift tags.  I think I have covered all the bases –

  • they are for children   [tick]
  • used Hero Arts creature stamps [tick]
  • and paper pieced to make little scenes on the tags [tick].

Here are the tags –

Tag Recipes –

  • All stamps and sentiments – Hero Arts (from sets CL305, CL372 & CL444)
  • Some coloured with Copics others paper pieced
  • Card – Bazzill
  • Paper – PTI
  • Ribbon – PTI
  • Dies – Magnolia Doohickeys
  • Sun Die – Spellbinders
  • Clouds – MFT
  • Grass – Whiff of Joy
  • Rhinestones & Pearls – Kaisercraft
  • Dew Drops
  • Flower Punch & Butterfly Punch

This challenge has several stages to it.  I am entering these in the first stage.  At present I am thinking I’ll make a container of some sort for the tags as the second stage – we’ll see.

Now I’m off to link up to the challenge.  I haven’t entered this contest before so let’s hope it’s not difficult because it is late and I have to be up early tomorrow to baby sit.

Bye for now,

Gelato

I’m back with a card for the All That Scraps – Magnolia Challenge #12 HOT, HOT days of Summer.  I don’t know about you but when I think of summer it screams ICE CREAM, so I thought I would use GELATO colours for this card.

Bye for now,

His Majesty

Today I have an experimental card for you.  I am using one of the new stamps I bought at the Craft Show last Friday.  I have coloured “His Majesty” with pencils blended with mineral spirits.  I have a lot of practice to do before I will feel comfortable with this new style (for me) of colouring but it is really enjoyable.  I have printed 3 images and layered the lion’s mane and then his face.  A rather plain card but I think it might work for a 2 or 3 year old boy.

Here is today’s card –

Card Recipe –

  • Stamp – Penny Black (His Majesty)
  • Coloured with Prisma Pencils & blended with mineral spirits
  • Sentiment – Hero Arts
  • Card – Bazzill & PTI
  • Button & Twine – PTI

As you may know we live on a little farm and therefore have a couple of tractors.  So this made me giggle – my dh shifting some timber to finish off a fence.  I think perhaps a tractor might have been a better option 🙂 😀

Luckily it was down hill to the fence and he made it safely.

Bye for now,

Craft & Quilt Fair

I am very happy that after a 12 month hiatus I am now visiting craft shows again.  Yesterday I went to the Melbourne Craft & Quilt Fair.  I have missed these craft expos for the last year but now I’M BACK and enjoying them again (still not enjoying the crowds though).  I have some new things to play with – so watch this space.

These shows are so tiring – here we had stopped for coffee and  well-earned break (like 100’s of others) – we had shopped well by this stage and really needed to stop and re-group  😀

I’ll be back soon with some examples from my purchases.

Bye for now,

Christmas in July

When I went to visit my mum yesterday the tables were being set up with bon bons and Christmas serviettes ready for Christmas in July lunch.  So that made me think that I really should start making some Christmas cards.  Every year I leave it to the last-minute (why do I put the pressure on myself?)  It was so opportune then that Penny Black Blog should have this week’s challenge as “Christmas in July”.

Here is my card –

I have used another of the long, thin cards which I picked up recently.

Card Recipe –

  • Stamps – Penny Black (Best Day Ever)
  • Coloured with Copics
  • Paper – DCWV (Glitter)
  • Flourish – Zva
  • Dies – Spellbinders
  • Ribbon with bell – recycled (I saved this from an Easter Bunny I think)

Hopefully this will only be the beginning of my Christmas cards.

Bye for now,

Heavy Metal

I’m back today with a card for Catch the Bug Challenge ‘HEAVY METAL” Poor old Gus he can’t get much right can he?  It’s right though, you don’t need a torch very often and then when you do inevitably the batteries are flat and it’s too dark to find new ones.

Before the batteries go flat here is today’s card –

  • Coloured with Copics
  • Other sentiment & circle stamps – PTI

Bye for now,

Go Cadel…….

Stayed awake to watch the Tour de France last night (not that I really understand much about the jerseys or stages or anything really).  Well done Cadel Evans – we will claim him as nearly a local now that he is doing so well 😀  I heard on TV that he is from Barwon Heads near Geelong.  I looked up on the web to see where his unusual first name comes from and apparently it is Welsh and means “battle”.  How appropriate don’t you think.

Now onto today’s card.  I am entering … Wee Memories – Challenge #62 CAS (clean & simple).  Here is my happy card –

Card Recipe –

  • Digital Image – Pink Cat Studio
  • Paper pieced – Doodlebugs Designs (swiss dot)
  • Coloured with Copics
  • Sentiment stamp and banner die – Taylored Expressions
  • Card – Bazzill
  • Dies – Spellbinders
  • Embossing Folder  – Cuttlebug Swiss Dots

Bye for now,

Foxy …

This month’s ATC’s at the Imagination Factory are “Animals”.  Well I have been waiting to use one of my fox digital images and here was the perfect opportunity.  My Ballarat DIL helped me choose which image so I hope she will be happy with what I have done with it.

Here’s the cunning fox –

Don’t you think he looks too cute to hurt that poor old scared hen?  MMMMmmm I don’t know!!!!!

The fox is from Pink Cat Studio (Digital), the hen from CC Designs (Rubber) and the Chicken Wire is from High Hopes (Rubber) – all coloured with Copics of course.

Bye for now,

Family ATC’s

Even though I’ve cropped (very severely) the photo of my “Family” ATC’s for this month I still think you’ll be able  to guess quite easily what my set is all about.  😯

Have fun guessing…

Now I will start on the next set for this month – theme – ANIMALS.

Bye for now

Amazing moon

Did everyone who lives in Victoria notice the amazingly bright moon last night?  It definitely was not the “Dark Side of the Moon” thanks Pink Floyd.

The sun had set only 1/2 hour before and then I notice this from our front window.  BEAUTIFUL almost breath-taking.

I don’t have a card for you today because I’m working on my “Family” ATC’s.  I have already received 1 set for this month and they are soooo great I was inspired to get going with mine.

Bye for now,
