cards and other happy thoughts

Monthly Archives: August 2018

Hello all.  It’s challenge time for my sister and I again.  August’s theme was “Altered Item”.  I have mentioned my friend who had visited a recycle warehouse before.  She gave me 2 sets of note cards and also about a dozen cones/spools.

They just call out Christmas Trees don’t they.  Well that is exactly what I made from them.  I intend to make a couple of others of smaller and less pointy shape to make a forest 🙂 .  For the moment this is all I have to show you.  Unfortunately I took these photos before I added the teal bead on the top.

Here are some smaller photos showing the left, centre and right.

The main supplies were of course the cone and jute twine.

The other supplies were:

  • Kaisercraft Gems “Ice Green”
  • Flowers from 49 and Market “Vintage Shades Potpourri – Sage”
  • some gold craft stamen from my stash
  • lace from my stash
  • Hot glue and Glossy accents

A very quick post because I was watching TV and then “shock horror” realised I had to post this project at 10 pm. Phew…. just made it.

Don’t forget to pop over to my sister’s blog to see what she made.  What will it be?  She did mention fairies and butterflies (or was that last time?).

Bye for now,

Lorraine

I’ve been busy making Zodiac birthday cards.  To make the 12 months was my challenge and I have finally finished them.

I won’t bore you by showing all of them but here are a few.  The cards are all the same design just using different galaxy skies and card colours.  It was interesting to see how the different colours turned out.  My favourite colour is probably the lime green for the sky.

The stamps are from Visible Image “Zodiac” and I used various Distress Inks from Ranger.  Very simple cards and I enjoyed creating them very much.

Did I show anyone their birthday sign?

Hope you enjoyed today’s cards,

Recently a dear friend visited a recycle warehouse in Melbourne and because she is such a thoughtful person picked up some little blank note cards with envelopes for me.  So cute.  She also spotted some empty cones, which I haven’t started on yet, but have lots of ideas for.

The first set are white and I think they turned out very cute.  A Christmas little thank you set for a neighbour, crossing supervisor, etc.

The second set is a multi coloured set which made me think of children, so of course Santa.  I popped up the Santa on the front of the box on a “wobbles” so he seems to dance around, but the cards inside are just plain.

Once the cones are decorated I’ll show you those as well.  Hopefully that won’t be too long.

Supplies:

  • paper for the 1st set is from Charlie & Paulchen “Fawn” and brown papers
  • Santa stamp is from My Favorite Things “Jingle all the Way”
  • Art Impressions “Action Wobbles”

Bye for now,
