I thought I should take some photos of the Ballarat Civic Hall as is in 2010 before it is gutted for offices or demolished. The Council has 3 development options under consideration. Who knows how long it will be before anything is actually started but better I take the photos now before any more vandalism occurs.
Shakespeare and Scott statues are still in one piece out the front, I wonder if they will retain them in the new development?
I wonder how many Deb Balls, concerts (I remember going to see Johnny Farnham here in my teens), musical exams, school end of year dos, etc, etc were held here? What other things can you remember going to here?
Bye for today,
sally

This is a good idea – but were you really only a teenager when johnny Farnham came to town – I remember seeing him in Adelaide and I thought I was older.

I would have been 20 tops. I can even remember the very short dress I wore. He was so popular and there was a competition to have dinner with him (or something to that affect). Perhaps it was another tour when you saw him ain Adelaide, after all he has had many tours. 🙂

geoff and I went and saw Johnny O’Keefe, and I think I sang in a church group for some competition at the civic Hall when I was very young. The night of JO’K there were only about 6 people in the audience, he was rather drunk or high on ————-. and he still continued on.Gail sil.

Wow only 6 in the crowd. It must have been near the end of this life was it? Every time I see Andrew O’Keefe on TV I think of J OK’s “Rock around the clock” .
